Hi. I Have Fine Lines (Nasolabial Area) or Smile Lines, with a Minor Indentation. These lines look more pronounced when I wear make up. I consulted a well known doctor and she suggested Juvederm Ultra Plus (1 syringe on both sides) of total 0.8. Kindly advise if the Ultra Plus is an ideal choice for my kind of fine lines. I am 33 years of age.Thanks.
In-person evaluation is necessary for proper recommendations, but you mentioned seeing an experienced physician. In the USA I would recommend an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon, dermatologist or ENT.
In my practice, we frequently use Juvederm Ultra Plus for this area of the face. At age 33 you may have mild lines and 0.8ml may be sufficient of both sides, although 2 syringes are often better for patients naso-labial grooves.
The experience of the doctor doing the treatments is more important than the product they chose to use. Other HA fillers can give good results as well.
It is my understanding that there is an injectable remedy to reverse the effects of Juvederm and Restylane if a patient is experiencing unsatisfactory results. Is this true? If so, why wouldn't patients who are reporting results such as lumps and ongoing swelling, etc. be advised of a remedial option instead of waiting and suffering?
Roseburg,
You are correct that there is an enzyme available to essentially dissolve unwanted Hyaluronic acid-type fillers (Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, etc.). In most practices it is not commonly used, but available.
Undesirable HA filler highlights how important it is for a patient to consider the doctor using the material, more than the material itself. Patients aren't simply purchasing "one cc of filler X for $500," they are purchasing the skill and expertise of the man or woman behind the syringe plunger. Choose carefully.
