Did TCA 25% peel at home. Almost immediately chin and the skin between my eyebrows frosted (about 1 min or less) but nowhere else. I let it sit for a few more seconds and between the burning and worrying about the frosted areas, I rinsed off with water. My entire face peeled to varying degrees but I did not get the results I desired. Next time how should I go about so I can get more areas to frost? How long can the 'frost' remain on skin while waiting for other areas to frost? Thanks!
TCA peels work by denaturing proteins in the skin. The skin should optimally be prepared for the peel with a good skin care regimen for 6-12 weeks prior. In addition, the acid when applied will denature and injure the skin to varying degrees depending how much acid is placed. If not careful, the acid burn can lead to variablity in results and worse, scarring if too much acid is placed in one area. My recommendation is to have a professional perform the peel in the future
I have bad wrinkle lines across my forehead even when my forehead is relaxed the lines are very visable. I just spoke to a surgury and booked she advised me i would need about 20 Units, How many units would you advise? Also considering a TCA Peel, but its not advised to be done the same day as botox is this correct? Is botox enuff to completely rid these lines? and is it normal for nurses in the sugurys to perform these practices as she told me the Dr doesnt do them? thank you
After looking at your picture, I think that 20 units of Botox is a reasonable way to start, but you may find that you need some more after 1-2 weeks. I believe in using the smallest amount of Botox needed to get the job done. However, your lines are deep, so the fillers will be necessary, too. I would not do the TCA peel on the same day. In my practice, my nurse and I both do Botox and filler injections, but this varies from office to office.
I feel so stupid I peeled my skin way before I should have. I had a 50% tca peel, and I peeled my skin not thinking because it came up so easily. I have round, raised skin, and I have a few scar marks; it is extremely noticable to me but not to others. This did not show until 2 months later. My skin also looks rough. I could cry... I have ruined my skin! I could tell the tca would have worked if I had not touched it. If I get another tca peel and not touch my face and let it peel naturally would that correct it?
I certainly agree with Dr. Shelton but would just add that TIME fixes many of these problems. If you are early after your peel you may very well do best by just waiting and giving your skin a good year to heal and recover before doing ANY other treatments. Be sure that you are on a supervised skin care program including quality moisturizing as well as daily sunscreen protection during this process. Good luck!
