“Pain Eases, Lisp Will (Or So I...”
I got my Invisalign on 5 days ago and so far it is quite an adjustement. I had horrible discomfort up until Sunday evening so it lasted about 2 1/2 days. The discomfort mostly from taking them out and putting them back in. I took Ibuprofen once when it was really bad, but it is tolerable (to me). I have a lisp now which isnt the most attractive part of this but I read it will decrease as I get... more
“Looking Forward to Results! -...”
10/3/12 - Just got tray 1 of 16 for both upper and lower today. So far the process has been easy; I had my moulds taken earlier in the year and finally bit the bullet and proceeded with Invisalign after watching my teeth slowly get worse over the last few years. My doc said to wait a week to get my buttons put on, so I snapped the trays in and went on my merry little way this morning. They are... more
“My Progression - Naas Yancey”
Dec 21, 2011 - Ive had my trays for about 3 days now (Dec. 19, 2011 *my birthday*) lol. They took a LONG time to come in. Supposedly that's normal for getting started. I feel a little discomfort while wearing them, but nothing unbearable. Eating is still awkward, due to the attachments that are bonded to your teeth, but I am sure I will get use to them like anything.Jan 17, 2012 - I am... more
“A Worthy Investment - Quakertown, PA”
At age 61, I got tired of having to photo edit pictures in which I was smiling: airbrushing a twisted tooth, removing a shadow cast by a protruding tooth, etc. Oh what the heck. I simply wanted straight teeth and as one ages, the teeth migrate forward and push the front teeth out of alignment. My upper two front teeth began folding and overlapping. My laterals turned sideways.Even the... more
“OK for Some Types of Straightening -...”
I had braces as a kid, but because I didn't wear a retainer (back then they didn't tell you to do that), my teeth started moving. I had Invisalign Express ($2500), as recommended by one orthodontist, and I was very unhappy with the results. He shaved my teeth in between and basically tried to force the teeth into the shape he wanted w/o considering the overall affect. I ended up... more
“On my Way............. - Cherry Hill, NJ”
Just started my 2nd set of trays, 10 buttons. Pain is not bad at all and buttons are fine. They are a little hard to get out, but they come out after 2x No bad at all, Looking forward in seeing results! I have a total of 17 trays. more
“85% Finished with my Treatment and I...”
Context: I am in my mid 20s and had needed braces since I was ten. My parents couldn't afford them and I grew up accepting my crooked smile. After college I decided to finally see an orthodontist. I saw a few before I settled on my current ortho. He was the most expensive but he was honest in setting expectations. The cost: I paid a lot for my orthodontic work, but it has been... more
The information given to me by ortho was incomplete and left me believing that the comfort, invisibility and result would be excellent. None were the case, and now that the result is not aesthetic, the ortho does not seem to have a plan of how to correct. Instead of making a new plan, he persists with the current one. Nine months of treatment and the result is poor. more
“Happy with Invisalign for Now!”
I never had braces as a child and I chose at 21 to get invisalign. My insurance did not cover it so I payed a little over 5000 to get it.I am now on tray 13 of 23, BUT this is my refinement trays, I previously had 23 trays and my doctor and I both were not happy with the results. I am worried because my doctor told me I did not have to wear them for 2 weeks and I could change them sooner... more
“Invisalign Was Okay, Dentist Was Bad.”
I wore Invisalign for 2 years (as an adult). At the end, the dentist did not have me wear them constantly for a long enough period of time, and made me very expensive retainers (instead of ordering new sets from Invisalign, which would have been MUCH cheaper and better). Upshot: Within 2 years, although I wore the dentist's retainers every night, my teeth had started shifting again. During... more
“MUCH Better Than Braces, Pressure...”
My cost above is after insurance coverage pmts, so those are out of pocket expenses only and after pre-tax savings. In total it comes out to $5,300. I got invisalign after already having braces when I was 11-12 years old. I had buck teeth and an over bite. I did not get a permanent retainer when I was younger. Now as a 23 year old, my bottom teeth are crowding, and my front tooth is... more
“Still Working on It, with Good...”
I decided to have treatment after pondering it for a long time. I didn't want to wear metal braces because of my age (28 when I started) . A well-known cosmetic dentist made an assessment and told me the treatment would last, based on a computer-generated simulation, around 9 months. What he never told me was that he would put some kind of white "brackets" on some of my teeth so that the teeth... more
“Invisalign Worth It! My Teeth Are...”
I had braces and major bite correction from 12 to 14 years old. However, my wisdom teeth came in while I was in highschool causing my teeth to crowd. I am 26 years old and just finished my Invisalign procedure! My teeth are perfectly straight, zero crowding! My doctor said that my bite was excellent so he recomended me for the Invisalign Express. I had a total of 10 trays that I wore for 3... more
“Hated It at First, but I'm Sure I'm...”
I'm only in week two but I'm on my second trays already. I'm going away and didn't want to go through the "first day with a new tray" thing on vacation. The first week was awful, but now it is very bearable. I find that I actually have more saliva, not dry mouth. I can already see a small change, believe it or not, and when I watch the computer generated goal, I know I'll love the results.... more
