*First off: THANK YOU, people of RealSelf! I wouldn't be here without this fabulous website and all of the awesome people who take the time to write reviews and post pictures. So thank you x 100!*
Well, here I am, people of RealSelf. It's been a long time coming and I am ready. I don't know if anyone else feels this way but growing up, I never thought cosmetic surgery was an option. It seemed... more
I got exactly the results I was looking for. I initially teetered on the decision to go through with the procedure because plastic surgery in general is expensive and my nose was actually okay looking. The major flaws that bothered me about it were minor to anyone else. I had a nose that dipped down at the end when I smiled and a downward slope along the bridge. It was a Greek nose, for sure.... more
Broken nose had caused breathing issues that made it hard to sleep and exercise without discomfort, leaving me feeling like I constantly had a stuffy nose. The injury also caused visible outside changes to the appearance of my nose. Following surgery, and recovery time, my breathing issues were gone and the bump was removed from the bridge of my nose. I was very pleased with the outcome. more
I believe that you should do your homework before selecting any physician who will commit to performing surgery on you. I thought that I was getting the best advice but found out that there are other options for instance tip grafting for patients with thick skin who wish to have their nose tip narrowed, sharper, refined, more definition. I would of appreciated the physician telling me that... more
I never had a problem with how my nose looked when I was younger. During my thirties, the tip of my nose started to bulge out on the sides. It really started to bother me. I decided to have surgery to refine the tip and return it to a more feminine face.
I did a lot of research on local plastic surgeons and found Dr. David Magilke. The overall experience I had at the doctor’s office was a... more
I researched and had consultations with 4 other local plastic surgeons before I chose Dr. Skourtis. What set her apart was how much time she spent with me and how thorough our first meeting was. I was interested in a rhinoplasty and would you believe Dr. Skourtis was the only surgeon who did a full exam of my nose? None of the other surgeons even looked inside my nose to discover I had a... more
I have gone back and forth on wanting rhinoplasty for years. I have been reading reviews and researching doctors. What was important to me was a doctor who wasn't just a plastic surgeon but also an ENT. Dr. Kim was the only doctor I did a consult with. Not only is he well educated, and knowledgeable, he has a wonderful bedside manner. He relates to his patients and speaks in words you can... more
I've always wanted a rhinoplasty. I was bullied fairly relentlessly through my adolescence, and my nose seemed to be one of their favorite talking points. Every time I complained to my family about my looks, they'd give me the whole "you're beautiful just the way you are!" schpeel. Of course I appreciate that sentiment on a human level, but it left me without much support in my pursuit of a... more
Dr. Wang came highly recommended by another fabulous doctor, Dr. Kaplan. I am 32 and have suffered from breathing problems since childhood. My nose collapsed each time I took a deep breath and I had overgrown turbinates. To top this all off I had a large Italian nose with a large hump. Dr. Wang most importantly corrected the inside of my nose (using an ear graph), and now my airways are open.... more
Twenty years ago I was dancing and was elbowed in the nose by a strong man. I have lived with a large bump on my nose ever since and didn't have the courage to get it fixed. When I finally had the courage to talk to some doctors, I felt most comfortable with Dr. Kim. After consulting three top Portland surgeons, I felt Dr. Kim took his job most seriously, and is the master of his field. He... more
I had my nose job last year and now I'm about a year out and love the results. through the process dr. furr was professional but approachable (and even answered all of my 100 emails lol) and unlike other doctors he spent as much time with me in his office as I wanted. I would recommend him in a second! more
My breathing has improved and I look alot better! Friends and my bf were skeptical and told me I absolutely didn't need anything done but I wanted to improve my nose. It was uneven, not straight, hanging columella, medium size. Now it is straight and elegant looking IMO
A subtle change and well worth it.
My profile is great but only two months post op my tip is more swollen than I like and it... more
Dr. Kim was referred by a specialist at OHSU. He was very understanding and took time to answer my absorbent amount of questions. His staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful throughout the process. What put me at ease was when he stated that the end result would allow people to focus on my eyes, not my nose. I now feel silly for worrying so much before the procedure. If you are anywhere... more
I have hated my nose since I was a teenager. I have an fraternal twin sister who ended up with my mother's cute little nose, while I got my dad's schnoz (as he likes to call it). I always thought that someday I would do it and then, after series of life changing events, I decided that time was now at 28 years old.
I began looking around for surgeons in the Portland area, reading reviews,... more
My biggest fear was not recognizing myself afterward, but Dr. Kim successfully achieved a dramatic improvement in my very pronounced bridge and hook, while balancing the look with my own natural features. It was a tough recovery process, but well worth it - I'm delighted with my results, and that's even before all the swelling is 100% gone (around 4 weeks post surgery now)! more
I had always hated my nose and my profile. When talking to someone in a car, I'd angle my body so that I was facing them so they couldn't see my profile. When in bed with a boyfriend, I'd always sleep facing away, so he couldn't see my profile. I avoided having my picture taken, and when I couldn't, I'd make goofy faces. The real turning point came when I was at a... more
