What Laser Resurfacing Would Be Best for my Face?

I am a very light skinned, 46 year old caucasian female. I am wanting to get laser resurfacing done on my face to take care of wrinkles around my eyes, smile lines around my mouth and deeper lines on my forehead. I would also like to get some benefits of skin tightening around my jowls and on my eyelids. I have found a derm that uses Active FX/Deep FX for $3K, a derm that uses an Erbium laser for $1800, and a plastic surgeon that uses Erbium/fractioned CO2 combination for $3K. What is best?

A: Laser Resurfacing Is Great for Sun Aging Lines and Wrinkles, But Still Think Fillers for Those Lip Lines

Laser resurfacing is not just about smoothing our lines and wrinkles, but is all about skin surface collagen tightening.  There are no other facial treatments that show as much gain for you skin, pores, texture, acne scarring, and lines as does resurfacing,  But, what does laser resurfacing mean and which laser or surgeon to choose.  We offer our patients choices of either Fraxel Dual, for pigmentation and texture, or DOT SmartXide, our carbon dioxide laser  for lines wrinkles and acne scarring,  these are great choices, but remember laser resurfacing although a great pathway to improving you skin is stiil an art form, and the skill of your physician, is an all important choice.

You mentioned deeper smile lines, and those jowels. well laser resurfacing although a great answer, is not the answer for everything, think of for those cheeks and jowels, Ultherapy for non-invasive lifting without any down time, going right back to work,  and fillers such as Juvederm for those deep lip or smile lines as well, and plan for your laser resurfacing when you have the time for the seven to ten day recovery

Should I Be Monitor with a Blood Pressure Machine

I have a fear of getting my blood pressure check, it makes my heart race. I watched someone die by looking at blood pressure reading. I am thinking about having laser resurfacing done under the eyes and above the mouth with just local injection. I have ask the doctor not to put me on the blood presure machine while he did my laser. He said he didnt see why I would have to have it because I was just having local,I might take an ativan maybe before the laser. would yall think this is safe to do?

A: BP monitoring during ablative laser treatment

If you are healthy and have no significant history of chronic high blood pressure other than your "white coat hypertension" then there is no reason to have  continuous BP monitoring during treatment with local anesthesia.  Many people suffer from a fear of having their blood pressure taken, which artificially raises the reading.  Taking a prescribed Ativan is a good idea and will make your experience alot better.

Allergic Reaction to Laser Resurfacing and Skin is Very Dry - What to Do?

I have had an Allergic Reaction from the CO2 Laser. Dr. put me on steroids and antibiotics, but my skin is really dry, and the creme they gave me does not work. What can I use? And is this reaction common?

A: CO2 post treatment reactions

Although what you are experiencing is distressing, it is not all that unusual. You will come through this experience just fine by following your physicians instructions and by giving your skin the time it needs to heal.

After a resurfacing treatment of any nature, the skin will absorb moisturizers at an astonishing rate. What we recommend to our clients post treatment is to use a thick moisture barrier such as Aquaphor for 7-14 days, until the skin is no longer sensitive and/or oozing. On occasion the client can not tolerate the Aquaphor and we will switch them to using Bacitracin and a topical cortisone cream. In any event, your skin will continue to be dry and flaky for many weeks to months after treatment depending on the depth of the laser peel and whether or not you have oily or dry skin.
