What Laser Resurfacing Would Be Best for my Face?

I am a very light skinned, 46 year old caucasian female. I am wanting to get laser resurfacing done on my face to take care of wrinkles around my eyes, smile lines around my mouth and deeper lines on my forehead. I would also like to get some benefits of skin tightening around my jowls and on my eyelids. I have found a derm that uses Active FX/Deep FX for $3K, a derm that uses an Erbium laser for $1800, and a plastic surgeon that uses Erbium/fractioned CO2 combination for $3K. What is best?

A: Laser Resurfacing Is Great for Sun Aging Lines and Wrinkles, But Still Think Fillers for Those Lip Lines

Laser resurfacing is not just about smoothing our lines and wrinkles, but is all about skin surface collagen tightening.  There are no other facial treatments that show as much gain for you skin, pores, texture, acne scarring, and lines as does resurfacing,  But, what does laser resurfacing mean and which laser or surgeon to choose.  We offer our patients choices of either Fraxel Dual, for pigmentation and texture, or DOT SmartXide, our carbon dioxide laser  for lines wrinkles and acne scarring,  these are great choices, but remember laser resurfacing although a great pathway to improving you skin is stiil an art form, and the skill of your physician, is an all important choice.

You mentioned deeper smile lines, and those jowels. well laser resurfacing although a great answer, is not the answer for everything, think of for those cheeks and jowels, Ultherapy for non-invasive lifting without any down time, going right back to work,  and fillers such as Juvederm for those deep lip or smile lines as well, and plan for your laser resurfacing when you have the time for the seven to ten day recovery

CO2 Laser for Large Amount of Acne Scars?

I am 18 years old and considering having CO2 Laser resurfacing treatment. About two years ago, I was prescribed Zoloft by a doctor, and I started to break out in areas I never thought acne would never show, as I have very light acne problems. I became scared and stressed that I began scratching at them off so now I have scars all over my body. I am not able to wear shorts or bathing suits or enjoy showing my skin. I want them gone. Is CO2 Laser resurfacing right for me? And how much would it cost to get at least my legs done?

A: Fraxel or CO2 Fractional lasers will help

They have shown some very nice results with acne scarring on the back with the Fraxel Restore.  Any Fractional laser can also be used on other body parts than the face.  I would seek out a physician who has experience with treating acne scarring with the Fraxel equipment.

White Under Eye Rings from CO2 Erbium Laser?

Ten years ago, I was treated with a CO2 Erbium Laser on the upper half of my face (from forehead to under the eyes). I now have white "rings" under my eye area. It looks as if I have marks from sitting under the sun wearing large sunglasses. Did I get it from the CO2 Erbium Laser? What kind of treatment can even out the skin tone on my face? Thank you for your advice!

A: There are options for hypopigmentation treatment

The problem you descibe is consistent with hypopigmentation, which is a sequelae of both CO2 and the erbium Lasers. The loss of pigment is usually permanent, however, you can camouflage it some what with either an Obagi peel or with a less aggressive fractional CO2 laser treatment.

I would consult with a physician who has experience with the later. It may take more than one treatment, but it will certainly help blend in the demarcation line.
