Thoughts About Having Cosmetic Surgery (Face Lift) at a Residency Program?
Every single plastic surgeon was a resident sometime somewhere. And the vast majority of currently practicing plastic surgeons gained some experience through a resident clinic. Most resident training programs offer resident clinics so that the senior or chief resident can gain experience taking care of and operating on his/her own patients -- all under the supervision of an attending surgeon. The benefit for the consumer is a lower-priced surgery; the downside for the consumer is inexperience and the possibility that the resident will move at some point and no longer be available for follow-up.
Only you can decide if the benefit of a more inexpensive surgery is worth it. And only you can decide if the resident is someone whom you trust. Good luck!
Rosacea is under control, but I have thin skin. Thank you
I would definitely recommend that you discuss this issue with your surgeon. However, if your rosacea is well-controlled, there shouldn't be any contraindications to your having a facelift for this one issue. Make sure that you tell him/her what medications you are taking to control your rosacea as well. He or she may want to make some adjustments prior to surgery. Good luck!
