Broken Orbital Bone and is Sinking, What Should I Do? (photo)

I got punched in the face a lot when I had a drinking problem (sober now) but I'm afraid my eyeball is sinking. I know for sure I broke the orbital floor of my eye at least once (the second time I was in mexico two years and couldn't get a professional opinion). I'd like to know if my eye will keep sinking. Please see the photo and let me know if you think this problem can be fixed. Thank you.

A: sinking following orbital bone fracture

Jimmy,

The problem that you are describing is know as enophthalmos.  This refers to the "sinking" appearance of the eye following a fracture of the orbital floor (the bone beneath and around the eyeball).  If your fracture is old, it is unlikely that it will progress further; however, to correct the problem you will probably need to see a craniofacial surgeon (a plastic surgeon who specializes in surgery of the facial skeleton).  He or she  will likely evaluate you with a CT scan and employ techniques to correct the problem which may involve refracting the bone and/or placing something to support the orbital floor.  (You didn't say if you had problems with double vision our to the affected eye....unfortunately, this problem may or may not be able to be corrected, and you may need to see an ophthalmic surgeon for this problem). Good luck!

Eye Whites Showing After Upper and Lower Eye Surgery

I had upper and lower eye surgery done two weeks ago, the white portion is showing under each eye. Is it too soon to see final results or will this stay? Is there surgery to correct this.

A: Scleral show often resolves....

I agree with Dr Rand, the visibility of the whites of the eyes usually is temporary after surgery. Check with your Surgeon for advice. Often gentle massage can help and and as the swelling improves the lid comes back up. If too much skin was removed sceral show can be permanent but it is too early to tell that. Hope this helps.

Hollow Eyes After Blepharoplasty?

I am one week post op from a brow lift and upper eyelid surgery. My eyes seem very hollow and I am scared he took to much off because now I have a very thick eyelid and my eyes almost look pop eye. Will this get better? My eyes seem more round and have lost their almond shape. Please advise!

A: A week after Blepharoplasty is too early to know how you will look

Give it some time to relax and see how your eyes and brows look. In general I think one can see some hollowing of the space below the brow ridge. Give it 3 to 6 months to evaluate your final look.
