How is Dysport different from Botox? Is it cheaper? Is it better?
The difference between Botox and Dysport is the size of the molecule. Botox and Dysport both work very well. There are possibly some slight differences in onset of action. We use both of these products very often in our practice and do not see a big difference between the two. We price them the same.
Does it just bruise around the injection site, like an IV, or will it be more significant?
Bruising with neurotoxins, including Dysport, is infrequent. If bruising does occur it is usually very minor and very localized (pinpoint) lasting just a few days. Very rarely, a larger bruise can occur if a small blood vessel is injured.
Which filler has the least side effects? Is there any way to prevent the headache from occurring?
Both Botox and Dysport have the potential side effect of headaches in greater then 2% of patients according to the product inserts. It may be worth a trial of Dysport treatment to see if you get good results without headaches. I don't think there is any good way to predict or prevent headaches with the neurotoxins.
