Would I Be a Candidate for Abdominoplasty? I Have Had A Vertical Scar Since Infancy

I have a vertical scar running from just below my breastbone down and around my umbilicus. This is from a hernia repair when I was 5 days old. The extra weight is pulling on this scar and causing pain. I am 29 and had 2 children. I went from 112 lbs. to 195 lbs. in 8 years. I have a medium skin tone. I just want the pain and extra skin to go away. Would an abdominoplasty help?

A: Abdominoplasty with pre-existing scar.

HI,

You may well be a good candidate for abdominopalsty-the vertical scar can be revised at the time of surgery (if needed). If you have had weight gain and loss as well as pregnancies, then you probably have enough laxity of the tissue to allow for a full tummy tuck. Pain is always a tricky thing to treat, and there is no guarantee that it will improve with the surgery, but it may well be that release and revision of the scar will help the pain as well. i hope this helps.

Skinny Legs and Arms with a Saggy Stomach Wt180 Ht 5'6. Can I Get a Tummy Tuck?

Top heavy women seem to run in my family Big Breast and flabby saggy stomachs I am 5'6 and 180 lbs I have given birth to 3 children I have did the diet and exercise thing to get rid of my stomach how ever I just seem to lose weight in my legs and buttocks which looks very weird considering I already have skinny legs and arms.Since I don't want to lose any more weight in those areas do you think its possible to have a tummy tuck as I stated earlier my stomach is very saggy and hangs VERY LOW

A: tummy tuck candidate

As already stated, pictures are the best way to determine what kind of candidate you are for a tummy tuck. That being said, someone of your size and weight will probably be an acceptable surgical patient. You may not have a perfect result because you are still above your ideal body weight, but the sagging and overhanging skin can be removed and liposuctioncan probably can  be performed in the flank and side region to good effect.I hope this helps.

Is It Better to Get a Tummy Tuck Done in a Hospital or a Surgery Clinic?

I hear that PS do TT procedures in a hospital or a surgery clinic. If they do their procedures in a surgery clinic, can I request to have my procedure done in a hospital? What is the difference and what is the most common?

A: I prefer a Surgery Center.

As many of my colleagues have said, it has to be appropriately accredited and safe.

But assuming that it is, there are many advantages to a Surgery Center. It is usually less expensive. It is more personal and private, and more likely to cater to the needs of someone having cosmetic surgery. The staff are more understanding and caring generally. Also Surgery Centers are geared to sending their clients home, and the type of anesthesia that is used makes this easier.

The surgeon may need to make some special arrangements. For example I like to make a house call on the day after surgery for Tummy Tucks. If patients live too far they stay overnight in a nearby hotel.

Good luck
