SmartLipo Nerve Damage Recovery?
I had SmartLipo under my chin, and the dr. hit a nerve, leaving me with paralysis on the left side of my mouth.
I am now 10 weeks out, and I still have the paralysis. My plastic surgeon just keeps saying it will get better, but I am really starting to wonder since it has been over 2 months and I look like a stroke patient.
How long does it take to recover from nerve damage caused by liposuction?
A: Marginal Mandibular weakness usually related to liposuction traumaWe have one of the largest series of laser assisted facial and neck rejuvenation procedures in the country and are well over 500. I developed the smartlifting technques for face and neck rejuvenation. In those 500 procedrues 2 had short term lip weakness and this was felt to be due to trauma from the liposuction and not the thermal injury of the laser. All got better with time and this could be up to 4 months. The two patients had prior face lifts and the scar tissue caused some resistance to the procedure.
Lower Bleph with Incision - Can This Cause Eyeball to Move?
I had lower eye bleph with an incision about eight weeks ago. My PS told me me that after removing minimal fat, he cut skin and muscle than redrapped the muscle. My question is whether this procedure could cause the eyeball to move up, forward, and slant. If so, will it resolve in more time? Thanks.
A: Has Eyeball moved up or eyelid down....What needs to be determined is exactly what is different about the eyeball (globe) or eyelid position. It is not uncommon to see the eyelid move down or become "rounded" after the lower blepharoplasty procedure. This is a recognized "side effect" from the surgery. For the eyeball or globe to move upwards is far less common. See your operating surgeon and discuss your concerns with him....
Can There Be a Red Line on Callus Formation?
About 9 months ago I got my rhinoplasty from out of country, I finally realized that what I have on my bridge (where 2mm silicone is placed) is callus formation, a small bump... It's not the bump that bothers me, what bothers me is the red line across it. Is it normal to have redness around callus formation? does redness ever go away own its own or do i HAVE to have another surgery? (btw, I have a thin skin, is it okay to have another surgery) I don't have any swelling or pain where it's red.
A: Any thing over an implant can be a concernThe major downside to implanting foreign material into the nose or facial structures is extrusion or infection of the implant. You should be examined by your operating surgeon to see if there is a problem with this.
