Will Having my Impacted Canine Tooth Removed After Invisalign Ruin my Results? (photo)

I am 24. I still have a baby canine tooth, that looks very awkward with my smile, which I want to remove. My dentist told me the adult tooth was in the front of my gums, but not exposed. I intend to have my teeth straightened with invisalign, but would it be pointless to do if having my adult canine pulled down eventually could possibly ruin the results. Also, I have slight buck teeth. Is it even worth the trouble or should I just consider veneers?

A: Move Canine First

I just did a case like this last month.  I uncovered the canine with a laser and attached a button to it.  I added a few brackets to the lower teeth and am having the patient wear a rubber band until it moves enough for Invisalign aligners to engage it.  After that it is straightforward Invisalign.

Crowns Are too Small on Front Teeth, What Can I Do?

I had two crowns and two bridges placed on to my upper front teeth, I have never been satisfied with them is there anything I can do besides having them replaced?

A: You won't like this answer, but...

Unfortunately the only solution is to have them remade.  They may be small because that is all the room your bite would allow.  An ideal central incisor, or front tooth is about 11 mm tall and 8 mm wide.  You can measure yours to see just how short they are.  Even if your bite was the problem, this can be solved by opening your bite with restorations on your back teeth.  There is no reason you can't have perfect teeth if you want them.

Invisalign Causing Too Much Space

I'm only 3 weeks into treatment (2nd tray)& my bottom teeth were visually perfect. In fact, the ortho offered to only put invisalign on my top teeth. But we decided to correct by class II division II bite & that required putting invisalign on my bottom teeth. Now 3 weeks into treatment, I have too much space in btw my bottom teeth. Does this all come together in the end? I'm just worried that this is not supposed to be happening. thanks

A: Clincheck

With all Invisalign cases there is something called a Clincheck, which is a 3D computerized representation of how the teeth are to move and rotate for every step.  Your teeth are most likely moving according to plan, especially this early in treatment.  It is very simple to check the Clincheck to verify that the movements are on track.
