I just had tumescent Smart Lipo done on my abdomen and a male breast reduction. The doctor suctioned out the liquefied fat after using the laser. If the excess fat was not suctioned out, what happens?
I definitely believe that in most cases suctioning the fat out after Smartlipo achieves much better results. Only in cases where very minor contouring is performed do I consider not performing suctioning of the fat with Smartlipo.
This question is for doctors who perform Smart Lipo or liposuction using local anesthesia: I read about a 37-year-old woman who went brain-dead after receiving laser lipo at a Medspa in the East Coast. How is it possible for a woman to go brain-dead and die from laser lipo, or do you think msybe something else transpired with her for such a drastic outcome of her surgery?
For any surgical procedure it is important that your Plastic Surgeon has your safety as priority #1. Make sure that your surgeon is Board Certified and practices at an accredited facility. Fortunately liposuction and Smartlipo done by a reputable and safe surgeon on an appropriate patient is a very safe procedure.
Is the Vaser lipo better than the Smart lipo system? Can someone tell me what's the difference and what type usually works best for getting rid of fat around the belly and chest?
Vaser, Smartlipo and traditional liposuction are all excellent techniques for body shaping, and I use all three techniques in my practice. The Vaser device uses ultrasound energy to break up fat prior to removal of the fat with traditional liposuction technique and the Smartlipo device does the same using laser energy. Which is best for you should be determined by a Plastic Surgeon familiar with each device after examining you. The most important thing to remember, however, is that the person who does your procedure is the most important decision you make. Choosing the right surgeon is far more important than the device used to perform your operation.
