What is the Average Number of Juvederm Injections for Smoothing Skin Around the Mouth?

Is it possible to completely smooth out deep lines around the mouth?

A: How much Juvederm is needed for correction?

The areas around the mouth that can be treated with Juvederm include the nasolabial folds, the lips, the marionette lines, the labial mental sulcus, and potentially other small lines and wrinkles.  Giving a number for the "average" number of syringes necessary is therefore not possible.  I typically use anywhere from one to four syringes depending on the number of areas to be treated and the severity of the lines.  One important factor with all fillers is to avoid spreading it too thinly.  If a patient requires 3 syringes to correct a problem, but can only afford one syringe, I do not proceed with the injections.  Inadequate treatment usually leads to dissatisfaction and disappointment.  Younger patients typically require one to two syringes, while older patients may require more.  Hope that this helps.

Would Juverderm Address a Deep Line on Forehead Between Eyes?

people have often said they do not see it BUT I Can. i went and got botox twice and dr said she even put the "extra" on forehead which i did not care for anyway i did not have any lines on forhead to begin with so didnt get the logic on that. Anyway i was told y another dr that a filler would do the job but she is also recommending some 90 day challenge face cream which she stated may even help with the line...Any advice would be so much appreciated the creams are alot more expensive

A: Botox/Dysport vs filler for forehead and glabellar wrinkles

Wrinkles or lines on the forehead or between the eyebrows (glabella) usually respond best to a neuromodulator such as Botox or Dysport.  These agents temporarily disable the motor nerves in the area, thereby preventing movement of the underlying muscles that cause the wrinkles.  Without an examination and discussion, I cannot give you specific advice, however the above is generally true.  Sometimes the lines in the forehead are so deep or remain fixed even without facial expression that filler agents can also be of benefit.  If the wrinkles are like this, I usually recommend a combination of Botox or Dysport to prevent worsening of the wrinkles and a filler to lessen the visibility of the lines.  If you are not comfortable with the advice that you have previously received, obtain another opinion from a physician experienced with injectable agents.  Good luck.

What Can I Do About Puffy Lip 6 Weeks After Juverderm?

I had juverderm for upper lip wrinkles 6 weeks ago. My surgeon gave me 2 syringes in my upper lip and now it's so puffy I'm so embarresed to go out. I called and asked about Hyaluronidase but they didn't have it. Also I have read a lot about side effects. What can I do at this point?

A: Answer to RealSelf.com about Juvederm injections

Betty-

Two syringes for the upper lip is quite a bit.  Unless your plan was to have a very full upper lip, 2 cc's is way too much. Your lip will likely remain puffy until the Juvederm is resorbed or you have some hyaluronidase injected.  While the injector states that "he does not have" this agent, it is simply a matter of ordering it.  You may, however, wish to see another physician who has more experience with injectables and the use of hyaluronidase.   Good luck.
