Are Their Any Spot Reduction Procedures That Do Not Kill the Fat Cells?

Hi I'm just wondering are their any spot reduction procedures that do not kill the fat cells in the body similar to liposuction (which kills fat cells)? I want to gain weight more proportionate. I want to reduce fat in the mainly in the upper abdominal, obliques, lower abdominal, flanks, middle back, and lower back. i want to reduce fat on the anterior deltoid, triceps, and under the chin as well.

A: Reduction of Fat without Liposuction

Liposuction and a machine that freezes the fat cells will injure or remove the cell. The only technology that I am aware of that can reduce fat without permanently injuring the cell is Zerona. It is a low level laser that causes the cell wall to open temporarily to allow the fat to seep out and be absorbed. This works very well, even for small areas, in the hands of an experienced technician.

What is the "Safest" Area of the Body to Perform Liposuction?

I recently got a quote from my PS for lipo to flanks, inner/outer thighs. However after discussing with a friend who had the same procedure done, she said avoid the thighs because they tend not to come out smooth. I've heard the same thing about the stomach. Would I have better chances of smooth results in just doing the flanks and hips alone? Are there any techiniques in lipo that can minimize a lumpy outcome? I'd rather have my fat pockets than a smaller lumpy body :-(

A: Safer areas for Liposuction

Each area of the body has its own unique charisterics of how it reacts to liposuction. The most problematic area is usually the upper inner thighs. However, with care and experience, even this area does well. A good, experienced surgeon should rarely get lumpiness or irregularity. When I started doing Liposuction (I was among the first trained by the Europeans in this country), I used to tell everyone that Liposuction was a two staged procedure. The second stage was to make sure everything was smooth. However, with newer, smaller cannulae, I have almost never had to go back to revise anything. The lesson in this is to pick a Plastic Surgeon who has significant experience with Liposuction. Demand to see credentials and before and after pictures. Beware of the non Plastic Surgeons who have started suctioning fat, expecially those with a new machine.

Safest and Best Way to Remove Cheek Fat -Smart Lipo, Mesotherapy,,meso-therapy, Buccal Fat Removal?

I had my cheeks injected with my own fat 6 years ago. My Upper and lower cheeks are to large and full. It even effects my smile. Please How or What is safest and best to remove small amounts at a time. Is it a laser like Smart-lipo. or Meso-therapy or a Buccal procedure? I would like to do slow and in small amounts because i'm scared to mess up my face, Please Help.... Thank you Chris

A: Facial Fat Removal

There is only one way to remove fat reliably, and that is by Liposuction. Whether you use standard Liposuction or one of the new Laser Lipo procedures really does not matter as long as the surgeon is very skilled in this area. The face is very unforgiving and must be done carefully. Doing a Buccal Fat Pad excision in you is probably a bad idea since the margins will not be tapered.
