Do I Need a Chin Implant? (photo)

I recently went in for a rhinoplasty consultation and the physician recommended a chin implant. I was very taken back by the suggestion as I had never considered this but the more I think about it the more I believe it might be a good idea. The thing is I like the way I look every which way, except in my profile (because of my nose) and I am concerned that if I got the chin implant it would change my face too much. I just want some suggestions if possible! Thank You!

A: Rhinoplasty and chin implant

The nose and chin must be in harmony to balance your face. What you have is very common. You do not need much reduction of your nose, only removal of the external curvature. With your very recessive chin, you will not get the desired nasal appearance you desire unless you markedly reduce the nose or, more aesthetically, augment the chin. In other words, adding a chin implant in someone like you is the standard of aesthetic revision and almost always provides a more natural and cosmetic appearance.

How is a Chin Implant Secured?

Does a chin implant move around or is it secured?

A: Chin Implant Fixation

Fixation of chin implants is something that each surgeon does differently depending on experience, the method of insertion and the type of implant used. I use a bendable implant that can be put in through a small opening into a very tight pocket. Once the opening into the pocket is closed, the implant cannot move, and I have never had one move. Instead of concentrating on the specifics of the procedure, find out what the surgeon’s experience is and whether he/she gets the results you desire with minimal problems.

Neck Liposuction with Chin Implant - Waiting Time

I am 37 yo male. - My plastic surgeon said that I need chin implant with the liposuction. Do you think I can benefit from liposuction? He won't do them together. He will do the lipo first followed by the implant 2-3 months later. Why is the gap between the 2?

A: Neck Liposuction and Chin Implant

Neck Liposuction and Chin Implant are frequently done together, and I can see no advantage of separating them. In fact, doing them at the same time has a number of advantages. Both complement each other in improving the area. You would definitely benefit from the chin implant. Without an examination, it is impossible to tell how much the liposuction would improve you, but probably also significantly.
