Any Hope for a Ropy Looking Neck?

There's probably a better term for this, but I hate having those those vertical muscles (maybe tendons or ligaments) in my neck, but a deep canyon between them. I've never read about any way to help those. I see lots of beautiful women who've had surgery, but the neck!

A: Platysma bands

What you are referring too is called Platysmal banding. There is a muscle in the center of the neck that as we get older, in some of us, the center part will start to disintegrate. The solution for this problem is to surgically re-attach this 2 muscles into one in the center. This also should be performed with a Facelift for better results. Look for advise with your local Facial Plastic Surgeon.

How Long to Wait Before Neck Lift Revision?

I had a neck lift 3 weeks ago and under my chin is more wrinkled then before and I have hard lumps that I can see and feel. I had lipo and the muscle repaired, It's not right I can tell and every time I look in the mirror I hate what I see I work in a salon. I just want it fixed, how long of a wait?

A: Hold the neck revision

The swelling and look that you are having 3 weeks after surgery is very common. It can take 6 months for the lumps and bumps to improve. Massaging the area can help to speed up the process a little more. Keep the lines of communication open with your surgeon and tell him what worries you.

How Long Does a Neck Lift Last?

Hello. I'm 46 years old and although I have a youthful face, my neck gives away my age. It seemed to happen all of a sudden.

I really hate my neck, but I don't have the funds necessary to pay for a Neck lift and all that that involves without some type of financing. So, two questions: How long would a typical Neck lift last before having to get touch-ups, and what payment options are available? Thank you.

A: Neck Lift Longevity

Hi Gaylep. This is the most common question that a patient asks during consultation. The responsible surgeon should always answer that they do not know how long it will last. As a rule, the speed of aging is more a responsibility of the patient than the surgeon. Normally we tend to age in 7-10 years blocks. this means that every 7 to 10 years we realize in the mirror that we look older. Patients that have a lot of stress, taking care of an ill family member, not very good nights of sleep, CEO of a big corporation, business owners usually age at a faster rate; like every 3-5 years as compared to non stress patients.

In my practice I see this every single day. Patients that take care of themselves and have low stress will age slower after surgery. Patients that have high stress lives, will age a lot faster. the key on how you age is basically in your hands. As surgeons we can only get you from point A to point B in rejuvenation time. After that, you take more a commanding role on how fast you age and how long the results will last. On the best patients with low stress, a neck lift should last about 8-10 years before the cheeks start showing the aging signs and then it should require a touch up.
