Can Cheek Fillers Such As Restylane Help Diminish Appearance of Undereye Bags?

I had thermage done when I was 23 and I went from being full faced to looking quite gaunt. As a result, I think it took a toll the structured support under my eyes. If I get an injectable filler, such as restylane, could this help my tired-looking under eyes? Or should I just get a really good under eye cream? I'm only 25. Thanks!

A: Nonsurgical solutions to lower lid aging

Several things happen under the eyes as we age.  Some folks are unlucky enough to have these changes show even in the mid-20's but it is commonly seen in most people by the mid-30's.  Crepey or wrinkly changes under the lids are responsive to medicated skin products like retinoids and others as well as to chemical or laser peels.  Deepning of the tear trough accents the transition from eyelid skin above to cheek skin below.  This is commonly treated with injectable fillers such as restylane.  Bulging fat in the lower lids requires lower eyelidplasty altough early bulging can be temporarily camouflaged with fillers to some extent.

If I Am Disappointed with the Results of Restylane, is There a Way to Dissolve It Quicker?

How long does it take for Restylane to dissolve for the average patient?

A: Hyaluronidase To Dissolve Restylane

When disappointed with a treatment, it is always best to return to the physician who performed the treatment and consult with him or her about options to improve the results.  Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane can be reversed with a material called hyaluronidase, the results of which are seen almost immediately.  Hopefully your physician is familiar with hyaluronidase and is comfortable using it to help reverse the effects of the Restylane injections.  The treatment is a series of injections into the area where the filler was originally placed.  Your doctor should mention that you may feel some stinging when the hyaluronidase is injected.

What Are the Fundamental Differences Between Restylane and Perlane?

Do Restylane and Perlane both act as dermal fillers with the same reults?

A: Perlane for deeper correction, bigger problems

Restylane is a smaller particle than Perlane -the number of linked together subunits is fewer and cross-linking less.  This gives a softer, smaller particle which is better suited for superficial corrections such as lips, eyelids, and wrinkles.  Perlane is better suited for deeper correction such as deep nasolabial folds, cheeks and hollowing under the cheeks.
