Hi! I had juvederm injected in my cheeks, 1 ml in one and 0.9 ml in the other, as 0.1 was injected in my nasalabial fold. However now I have uneven cheeks and when I smile my eyes look uneven, as the fuller cheek eye looks smaller and the other eye looks bigger, I am now concerned about how the filler will wear off? is my face going to look distorted after the filler wears off?
Juvederm is not permanent, lasting anywhere from 6 to 9 months in the average patient. If you prefer not to wait until it wears off, you can ask your physician (who did the injections) to inject hyaluronidase (Vitrase) into the areas which can help diminish the results of the Juvederm. I do not believe your face will look distorted after the Juvederm wears off. In general, it is always best to go back to the physician who performed the treatment to discuss your concerns and to discuss options to correct the results. I recommend that you do your filler work with an experienced, board-certified dermatologist or facial plastic surgeon.
I was a huge fan of injecting Radiesse into my nose to increase the bridge as well as to achieve a slender and narrow affect from the front view. However, I would soon like to opt for a more permanent solution (rhinoplasty), and have discontinued my Radiesse injections. I recently got Juvaderm injecting into my nose to try and create the same effect, and I noticed my nose got wider and more bulky. Am I imagining things or does Juvaderm in fact spread when injected into the face?
Juvederm does absorb more water than other hyaluronate fillers like Restylane and definitely more than Radiesse. This means that a little less needs to be injected to obtain a given degree of correction. If it is injected to just the "perfect" amount visibly at the time of treatment, it will look a little overcorrected a few days later. Juvederm or other hyaluronate fillers will spread more in tissues and provide less of a fill out than Radiesse which is a little stiffer in terms of it's ability to create a contour.
If the contour you obtained looks good after a few weeks, then stick with it until it eventually absorbs. If a really unsuitable shape or size has resulted, Juvederm and other hyaluronate fillers can be erased using the enzyme hyaluronidase which can be injected by your doctor.
Previously in CA, 1/3 of a vial of Rystalane to fill shallow acne scars in cheeks every 9 mths. Now, in LA I have seen two doctors, one Derm, one PS, 4 V's of Juvaderm, both missed the scars, which everyone can see. The result is they injected three 1/2 vials into my cheeks which were already full. I look like a chipmonk WITH acne scars remaining. I wanted NO volume. Also placed too much in my top lip now protruding over the bottom lip. UGLY! Help !
As expressed by others, Juvederm is not a permanent filler, therefore it will slowly disappear on its own after 6-12 months. If you are very dissatisfied with the outcome, the physician can inject hyaluronidase to quickly dissolve the filler.
