How Soon After Breast Reduction Surgery Can I Go into my Swimming Pool (Salt Water)

My surgery is scheduled for July, how soon after can i go into my swimming pool (salt water, heated pool). I realize i probably cannot start swimming laps around the pool, but just going in the water to cool off? thank you

A: Swimming after breast reduction

I ask my patients to refrain from using swimming pools or hot tubs for two to three weeks after surgery.  It is important to ensure that the incisions from the surgery are well healed.  Otherwise, pool water that is contaminated with bacteria may enter the surgical wounds and cause an infection.

How Long Should Drains Stay in After Breast Reduction?

My surgeon isn't planning on removing my drains until my 1 week followup which is 8 days later. Is it normal to have drain in that long after a breast reduction?? I am 24, going from a F/G cup to a D cup.

A: Drains after breast reduction

Whether drains are used or not and how long they stay in is variable amongst different plastic surgeons.  There is no absolute right or wrong when it comes to this.  Your surgeons recommendation will be bases upon their personal experience and training.  I

What Should I Do About Breast, Back and Neck Pains?

I am 19 and i've been having breast pains and problems fo 3 years. I've told my doctor about it and nothing is being done about it. I use to wear a 36 C now I am in in a 36 or 40 DD bra. My breast have gotten so large that I have to wear two bras to hold them up and to keep them from hurting my shoulders, back, and neck. My bra straps hurt so bad that it cause me to have headaches. I'm in need of desperate help. Should I talk to a specialist about a breast reduction or try to deal with the pain?

A: Breast reduction

It sounds like you might be a good candidate for a breast reduction.  You should seek out a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.  A plastic surgeon can describe the procedure and recovery to you and help you obtain insurance approval.
