What Are the Advantages of Getting a Neck Lift Incision Under my Chin?

Is the "chin incision" neck lift technique the best choice for sagging skin on my neck?

A: Chin incision for muscle repair -a special part of necklift

In addition to redraping skin with a necklift, several other issues may need attention depending on you as an individual.  Excess fat in the neck can be removed without a significant incision using liposuction.  Banding from the platysma muscle required the incision under the chin in order to join the muscle bands back together in the midline.  Not all patients require this, it is specific to how you've aged.  An experienced facelift/necklift surgeon can advise you on the necessity of the midline incision.  This is usually performed in conjunction with a facelift or necklift but is occasionally performed as a stand along procedure -platysmaplasty -in patients who have already undergone a facelift or necklift or who don't yet have alot of skin redundancy but who have muscle banding in the neck that is not responding to Botox.

Can Fraxel Dual Get Rid of my Chichen Pox Scars? (photo)

Forehead and Cheek.

A: Laser and other options for chicken pox scars

One of more aggressive laser resurfacing treatments with a fractional ablative laser or full field ablative laser would likely help but not completely erase the scars.  The disadvantage is recovery time, the advantage is the change would be long-lasting or permanent.  Filler with or without subcision (cutting under the scar with the tip of a needle to release the scar from adherence to the underlying surface) is usually a good place to start.  Filler needs to be repeated as it is absorbable but some of the correction remains as the scar can't heal back down to the deep layers dues to the interposing filler.

A Few More Pounds Than I Would Like Before Mini Facelift, Will It Make a Significant Difference?

I am a 42 year old woman and getting a mini face/neck lift + upper eyes. I am about a few pounds heavier than I would like since Christmas but nothing extreme, that Bikram yoga quickly sorts out so I am wondering if I should just get to actual ideal or ..will this have much of an impact to go ahead and have surgery booked 30 JAnuary ? Deliberating if I need to defer for another 30 day or will it be fine to work with? Surgery is with Basrim Matti who like God.....!Please advise :-)

A: Small weight changes not a factor for facelifting

I tell my patients to be within 5-10 pounds of their long-term maintenance weight.  This is different than the ideal weight we'd all like to be but rarely maintain over the long term.  If you are within that range, you should not see a significant change in facial laxity if you lose that last little bit of weight.
