What is the Difference Between Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Restore Dual?
Fraxel Re:store can fall short in removing pigmentary problems such in patients with Melasma. The Dual addresses this by adding a second laser with a wavelength of 1927nm. This second laser is used at the same time as the Fraxel Re:store to better address the pigmentary problems.
A way around this potential problem with Fraxel Re:store is to combine it with Nd:YAG laser or IPL photo facials or vascular lasers such KTP laser. These lasers are used just prior to the Fraxel treatment. By combining these two laser modalities similar effects as with combining the Fraxel Re:store Dual laser can be accomplished. The Fraxel Dual laser is pending FDA approval and its true value has yet to be determined pending more clinical experience.
I got 1cm scar and acne scar. Does Fraxel give good result for removing scars? I'm 16 and I have yellow skin (Asian). I don't have any acne left but still have lots of scar and some redness on my cheek. If you can see, 1cm scar is on my right cheek. If Fraxel not works on my skin what type of laser should I do? Thank you very much.
The scars on your face would respond well to either a series of 5 or more Fraxel re:store or 2 to 3 Fraxel re:pair laser treatments. The reason more than 1 Fraxel re:pair is being recommended is due to the risk of post laser hyperpigmentation due to your Asian background. Less aggressive treatments would be required to help prevent this.
This would therefore require two to three treatments to achieve the same results as one aggressive treatment with the Fraxel re:pair. It is for this reason that I would favor using the non invasive Fraxel re:store laser.
The risk of hyperpigmenation is less and there is no downtime. You will obtain equivalent results with both Fraxel lasers. I have both Fraxel re:store and re:pair so that I can customize my laser treatments for all skin types and patients unique needs.
I have tons of indented acne scars, enlarged pores and a fairly large chicken pox scar on my eyebrow. Every skin laser office I go to recommends Fraxel. But I hear it is painful and the side effects are bad. Is Fraxel really my only option left? And if it is, is it worth it? I feel hopeless. Thank you.
Acne scars are best treated with combination therapy. The combination depends on the shape and depth of the scar. I would have to see a photo to tell you which treatments would work best. The following are your options- one or all in combination.
