I Want to Have a Baby Next Year but I Want Smart Lipo This Year. Should I Wait Til After?

Since I was in the 9th grade I have had a belly. Im now 22 and I have tried everything to get rid if it.. I HATE THIS BELLY!! I'm turning 23 in August n I want to look fab,so I was thinking of smartlipo. I havnt worn a bikini since I was 12, n now that I'm grown I would like to feel sexy and confident n whatever I wear. But I am engaged n I do want kids. Can I do the smartlipo and still have a baby n a year or two?

A: Pregnancy and lipo

If you are planning to get pregnant, I would suggest waiting until  you have completed having children.

A: Please wait I would not encourage anyone to have liposuction, whether via smart lipo or another technique, if they are planning to become pregnant within the year. You cannot know how much weight you will gain in pregnancy and the effect on your abdomen in terms of stretching-or even whether you will need a C-section. So, my advice is to be a little patient, save your money, and then make a decision later. I would hate to see you waste your money.

Should I be Able to Grab a Substantial Amount of Fat from the Area That Had Smart Lipo?

It's been 3 weeks since my procedure. I have hardness in a few areas near my belly button & I'm almost 100% again however, I can still grab quite a bit of fat on both the left & right side of the lower ab area (which was the area with the most fat). I'm hoping I will get smaller because my doctor explained that I will continue to "shrink" for the next 3-6 months, but because the area is squishy I'm afraid that I am seeing my "final results." Am I seeing my overall results?

A: 3 to six months for maximum improvement from lipo

Liposuction can take 6 months to show improvement. Be patient and wait but make sure to see your surgeon for followup. A 1/3 of an inch of fat, or so, should be left for natural health of your skin and appearance. When you pinch, then you feel 2 X 1/3 or 2/3 of an inch normally. Too much fat removal is no good. If you need more removed your surgeon should evaluate at the six month point or so.
