I asked a question few wks ago about being pregnant & maybe having a fractured nose. Went to an ENT & my nose is fractured & my septum has scar tissue that's already curving. I can't get it fixed til the baby's born, but the Dr doesn't think I should worry about fixing the fracture, she just wants to fix my septum. I want both fixed, bc I have a small dent in my upper left side of my nose. What would I need done in order to fix both problems?
A fractured nose and septum can be fixed at the same time. Performing a septoplasty and rhinoplasty at the same time is done frequently, and I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon. It can be difficult to get insurance to cover a rhinoplasty done for reconstructive purposes--good luck.
Best,
I have been experiencing nothing but constant facial pain in my cheeks, congestion(left nostril always blocked), sneezing, and the worse of all-a horrible odor coming from my nose since my septoplasty over a year ago. I never experienced these symptoms before, only after the surgery. What could have gone wrong?
Hi,
Many things could be wrong. You could have a persistant deviated septum or a septal perforation. See an ENT/Facial Plastic Surgeon to look into your nose.

I was scheduled to have Septoplasty surgery a few years ago and while undergoing the induction anesthesia I developed hypotension after I was given the Keflex and nasal lidocaine. I was in ICU for a few days and the surgery never took place. I am now having to revisit this again. I am scared out of my mind and would feel more comfortable with local anesthesia. Is there a less invasive way to have this procedure done?
The first thing you and y our doctors need to do is find out why you became hypotensive. Are you allergic to Keflex or Lidocaine. Once the medical issues have been worked out then discuss it with your doctor. You will not be happy doing a septoplasty under local.
