Will 10 Month Old Need to Be Sedated to Treat Cherry Angioma Under Eye w/ PDL Laser?

It's a very small cherry angioma about 1/2" under her eye.

A: Treating a Cherry Angioma on a Baby

A cherry angioma is a very small vascular spot and treatment with the pulsed dye laser is safe, effective and usually a "one-shot-deal" -- no sedation is required.  Typically, the baby can be restrained for just a few seconds in a papoose or held in the arms of his/her parents or guardians.  It is important to protect the baby's eyes, which are covered with goggles or a blindfold.  It is normal that the baby may cry during the procedure, but it is over very quickly and at 10 months old, the child will never remember the experience.

Facial Angioma Laser Treatment Side Effects

Will Pulsed Dye Laser Cause Any Side Effect (Permanent or Otherwise) if Done on Facial Angioma?

A: Side Effects from Pulsed Dye Laser for BLood Vessel Treatment

Pulsed dye lasers can be used for the treatment of blood vessels. They target the blood cells and cause the blood vessels to be destroyed.  Side effects can occur, and these include discomfort during the procedure, swelling, and bruising. A rare side effect is the development of a scar.  This can happen if the skin is not properly cooled during the procedure and excess heat is applied to the skin.  Scarring is a rare side effect, but theoretically could occur.   It is important to have the procedure performed by a physician experienced in using the laser.

Pulsed Dye Laser While on Accutane?

There has been a rise in the number of practices using v beam pulsed dye laser to treat post acne redness while patients are still on accutane. results are promising. I found support in an article on the candela laser website. Any other practitioners who agree to this and is practicing this? I am wondering whether i should go for it.

A: Avoid Facial Procedures While On Accutane

Accutane can make the skin extremely sensitive.  With injury to thet skin, patients on accutane are at a higher risk for scarring and pyogenic granulomas (groups of blood vessels).  In my opinion, you should wait not only until after you finish taking Accutane, but also at least 6 months afterwards before having any procedure that could potentially cause damage to the skin.
