Dr. John Frank is a double board-certified surgeon and the founder of John Frank Hair Clinics in New York City. Skilled at performing facial plastic surgery, Dr. Frank is most renowned for his skill with hair restoration surgery and hair transplants.
In over 15 years of specializing in hair loss treatment, Dr. Frank has treated more than 20,000 patients and performed over 2,500 hair transplants. He takes a customized approach to his work, as no two scalps are the same.
With advanced training in the anatomy of head and neck, Dr. Frank can reconstruct and cosmetically improve the appearance of both the hair and scalp. These treatments include follicular unit extraction (or FUE hair transplants), follicular grafting, scalp or hairline lowering, and more.
Known for his expertise and artistry, he is a pioneer of specialized techniques, including methods to improve local anesthesia for the comfort of his patients.
Dr. Frank graduated with his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from The Ohio State University, where he became captain of the Buckeyes football team and was voted into OSU’s Sports Hall of Fame before being recruited by the San Francisco 49ers. He played as a tight end for the 49ers for five years and through two Super Bowl championships before retiring at the top of his game.
After his NFL career, Dr. Frank returned to Ohio to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor, earning his medical degree from The Ohio State University. He went on to complete residencies and fellowships in general surgery, otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Loyola University Chicago.
He completed his medical training with a fellowship in skull base surgery at the Columbia University (Vagelos) College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He is board-certified by both the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
When he isn’t providing hair transplants and restoration treatments for his NYC patients, Dr. Frank is quite active in his medical community. He is an assistant professor of clinical otolaryngology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and has authored articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Frank frequently shares his expertise with his colleagues at industry meetings as a panel speaker, and is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.
Dr. Frank loves spending his free time with his wife, Edith, and their three children.
