I had 3 consults for a primary rhinoplasty. The last surgeon found i have a deviated septum. I really dont have breathing issues. Should i get this fixed? Also should i only go with the surgeon who found this deviation? I like the last 2 i saw. I was leaning towards the second surgeon but he asked me if i had breathing issues at my consult and i said no. By the way, i am just going to have tip work done. No bridge work is nessacary. Both surgeons agreed with that. Help please. Thank You!
Most people have some deviation in the septum. This becomes necessary to correct when it affects breathing and/or it can affect the cosmetic outcome.
Dear doctors, I just had a closed rhinoplasty done last week, it is beautiful and I'm so happy with it but I smoked 5 cigarettes today. I now have a little blue line at the bottom of my nose and I didn't have it yesterday. I want to cry because I have been given the most beautiful nose. I threw my pack of cigarettes away. I know I shouldn't have done it, and I won't do it anymore. I just want to know what to do. Could it have ruined the results? Please help.
Cigarettes are a no no! They cause tissue ischemia and prevent oxygen to get to the tissue properly.
Am considering alar base reduction in addition to rhinoplastery. Is the risk of scarring worth it? Could bridge and tip reduction alone provide desirable effects?
Alar base reduction scars usually heal very well. Specifically for you, it is better to be evaluated in person to determine if you even need it.
