If Mid 30s is too Young for Midface Lift, then When is Good Time?

I am in my mid 30s and slender. I am noticing aging in my lips and lower face that is very upsetting to me. I have dimples (2-3 each side) in my lower face. I also have some acne&scarring. Family history of jowls. Fat transfer to my cheeks and fillers to folds have not helped issues. Also, fat transfer surgeon put fat in one of my dimples and now I have an annoying fat pocket. My new MD has recommended fillers and cortisol, but says its too soon for mid lift. I am so bothered by this. Options?

A: Mini facelift in your thirties...

Having a mini facelift in your thirties is a posibility if you are a candiate for the procedure.  Age is not a criteria for this procedure, but instead whether or not to do it depends on a person's anatomy.  It is particular helpful for a person with a droopy lower face, and the mini facelift can be done under local anesthesia.  For your lips, fillers like Juvederm or silicone can be used to reverse the aging effects.  Acne scarring is difficult to deal with, but the scarring can be excised during the same procedure and sutured  to be made less visible, or Fraxel laser can be performed.  It is OK to have these procedures in your thirties, but just keep in mind to keep things looking natural.  Consult your board certified facial plastic or plastic surgeon to discuss your best options.

A Few More Pounds Than I Would Like Before Mini Facelift, Will It Make a Significant Difference?

I am a 42 year old woman and getting a mini face/neck lift + upper eyes. I am about a few pounds heavier than I would like since Christmas but nothing extreme, that Bikram yoga quickly sorts out so I am wondering if I should just get to actual ideal or ..will this have much of an impact to go ahead and have surgery booked 30 JAnuary ? Deliberating if I need to defer for another 30 day or will it be fine to work with? Surgery is with Basrim Matti who like God.....!Please advise :-)

A: Small weight changes not a factor for facelifting

I tell my patients to be within 5-10 pounds of their long-term maintenance weight.  This is different than the ideal weight we'd all like to be but rarely maintain over the long term.  If you are within that range, you should not see a significant change in facial laxity if you lose that last little bit of weight.

Is Mini Lift a Good Alternative for Regular Facelift?

I have slight sagging. I am unhappy with injectable fillers and afraid of general anesthesia. Is mini lift a good alternatve? Is this easier to recover from than a regular facelift? Are the results good?

A: A mini facelift vs. a full facelift...

A mini facelift is a good alternative to a full facelift as long as you are a good canidate for the procedure.  First, a mini facelift can be done comfortably under local anesthetic, unlike a full facelift which is done under general anesthesia.  The ideal candidate for a mini facelift is someone who has minimal sagging like you described and not a heavy neck.  This slightly sagging skin can be corrected by tightening the deeper tissue and removing the excess skin.  It is an easy procedure to tolerate and the recovery period for this procedure is about one week compared to 10-14 days for a regular facelift.  Patient results for mini facelifts are very rewarding when using an experienced surgeon.  Unfortunately, if your neck is heavy, a mini facelift will not give a good result no matter what you hear or what pictures you see.  Consult a board certified facial plastic or plastic surgeon to see if you would be a canidate for this procedure.
