My daughter is 15 and has been very insecure about her labia minora for around three years. It causes her discomfort both physically and mentally. She has thought very hard over the past three years whether she wants surgery or not and she has decided she would want it soon. She is very mature and understands what she is doing. Will she have to wait another year or is there any way she can have labia surgery at 15?
Any plastic surgery for an adolescent must be considered weighing the problem to be addressed and the physical and psychological maturity of the teenager. Many young women suffer from physical impairment and are unable to participate in certain sports and activities because of overly enlarged labia. The impact on self-esteem must also be considered in respect to the degree of deformity. A consultation and examination by a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in labiaplasty is essential to determine if surgery is indicated and when would be the best time to perform it.
Are labia injections managed with tylenol? Or does the pain often require other medication?
The labia major can injected with fat to restore volume. Other options that are less common are injections with synthetic fillers such as Sculptra. These procedures are usually done under local anesthesia. After the procedure a significant amount of swelling and some pain is expected for a few days. In most cases, these are be managed with cold compresses and ibuprofen. Narcotic or other pain medications are rarely needed.
Hi, I had a labiaplasty 3 weeks ago and I'm happy with the result so far. My concern is that I feel an itch or even an ache you could say on my vaginal entrance and slightly in my vagina.. Considering only my labia was done I'm wandering is this normal?? Also not all my stitches are dissolved which I thought by now they would be. Thanks
It is normal to feel itchy after a labiaplasty for several weeks. This can be caused by irritation from the sutures as they are dissolving, normal healing or a yeast infection that can commonly occur after using antibiotic ointment in the vaginal area. If you are having any kind of discharge an anti fungal can be prescribed by your surgeon.
