Fine Hairs are needed at the sides of my forehead to make it appear that my forehead is less wide than it actually is. I prefer not to use the back of my scalp as the donor site. Are there any other candidates for this? Like maybe leg hair or even armpit hair?
Is hair transplant surgery a long-term solution to baldness? For example, if I get hair transplant surgery at age 35, how natural will it look when I'm 45 or 55 or 65 and my hair continues to recede?
It is the job of the hair transplant surgeon to not only have a plan and account for future hair loss, but also to educate his/her patient as to this fact. Properly designed, a hair transplant can be a long term - and sometimes a permanent - solution for hair loss, even in a younger patient, with the ability as always to have a second procedure as indicated and explained to the patient.
What are the possible drawbacks of a woman having hair transplant surgery for thinning hair?
A large number of hair transplant surgeons will not perform a procedure on most women, due to the challenges- including risk of damage to existing hairs, difficulty in achieving impressive results, and more. However, in my personal practice, around one-quarter of my patients (around 4 to 5 a week) are women, most commonly having a procedure to restore density, with others looking to have a hairline brought down, or eyebrows restored.
