Tear Pump Failure After Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty, What Should I do?
I have a problem with watering eyes following upper eyelid blepharoplasty ( now 6 months after ), especially when outside with breezes of wind. I am sure it's not connected to blocked tear ducts etc as it affects both eyes and started directly after the surgery. I have looked on the internet but all the cases I have found seem to be connected with lower lids ? When I mentioned the watering eyes to the surgeon he dismissed it as not being connected to the surgery ?
A: Tearing after BlepharoplastyTearing is a common problem after blepharoplasty surgery. In most cases of upper eyelid surgery it is due to the eyelids not closing completely which can cause or worsen a dry eye problem. Although this doesn't always make sense to patients, a dry eye can actually cause the eye to create excessive tear production. It is not common for upper eyelid surgery to cause to tear duct issues.
I recommend that you see an Ophthalmologist or an Oculoplastic Surgeon to evaluate and treat your problem.
Broken Orbital Bone and is Sinking, What Should I Do? (photo)
I got punched in the face a lot when I had a drinking problem (sober now) but I'm afraid my eyeball is sinking. I know for sure I broke the orbital floor of my eye at least once (the second time I was in mexico two years and couldn't get a professional opinion). I'd like to know if my eye will keep sinking. Please see the photo and let me know if you think this problem can be fixed. Thank you.
A: Orbital Fracture RepairIt does appear from your photograph that your eye is sinking. You should seek a consultation from an Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeon or Facial Plastic Surgeon. They will need to order a CT scan to determine the extent of the orbital fracture. An orbital floor fracture can be repaired by placing an implant that prevents the eyeball from sinking. In most cases, this can be done through the inside of the eyelid (a transconjunctival approach) without making a skin incision.
Is It Common for a Lower Eyelid Skin Pinch to Alter the Shape of One's Eye?
A plastic surgeon told me I have excess skin on my lower eyelids. CO2 fractional laser was recommended as first step. That was done 3 months ago. Mild improvement but did not tighten much. Botox under the eye and on the sides made my under eye bunch more. It is saggy & redundant skin under my eyes rather than just fine lines. When I smile it pleats & folds. Regarding a lower eyelid skin pinch - my main concern is that it could alter my eye shape. Is rounding the eye a risk? Thank you.
A: It can pull down one’s eye and change the shapeIt can pull down one’s eye and change the shape. Fraxel CO2 laser can sometimes help, but it can also pull the lid down more. I would see the doctor and possibly get another opinion to see if any further correction should be done.
