I Am a Type 1 Diabetic and Am Interested in Fraxel Re:pair, Am I a Candidate?

Type 1 Diabetic with somewhat stable but not perfect blood sugar would like to know if anyone has treated anyone who is Type 1 and if the healing time/complications were worse. I am 45, blond, 110 lbs, fair skin. Thank you very much.

A: Diabetes, fraxel, treatment

I am quite familier with type I diabetes. Although wound healing is somewhat slower in these patients, but there is no reason that with the appropriate precautions & goal setting that you could be treated. I have treated patients with type I diabetes without any problems to date.  Discuss with your dermatologist for various available options for the condition you like to be treated.

Does Fraxel Laser Treatment Tighten Skin?

That is really what I was looking for when I started the Restore treatments. The only thing I found short of surgery that would help with lax skin was Thermage and even the doctor that had Thermage didn't seem very impressed with it, so I chose Fraxel Restore.

A: Fraxel restore CAN tighten skin Although the Fraxel restore is not the most effective laser for tightening skin , it does tighten it somewhat. In my experience you see the most tightening in areas in which the skin is thinner like the eyelids , neck, and chest.Any fractionated Co2 laser like the Pixel or Fraxel Repair will do a much better job of tightening but with some 'downtime'. Obviously one should choose a laser surgeon with a lot of experience as the risk of side effects is not insignificant and can be largely avoided with care and experience.

Will Fraxel RePair Help Tighten Loose Neck Skin?

I am a 46-year-old female, very thin (5" 4" 100 lbs) and does not have a lot of subcutaneous fat. I'm concerned about my neck area since I have some loose skin and neck bands. I heard of Fraxel Repair on the "Today Show" and thought it is worth considering. Will it tighten neck skin and eliminate neck bands? I tried Thermage about one and a half years ago, and it was a complete waste of money. Should I try Fraxel Repair, or would it be better if I go for some type of a mini lift for the lower face or neck? I'm looking for real results without wasting any more time and money. Thank you in advance.

A: Don't treat Neck Bands with Fraxel Although I have never tried to treat neck bands with fractionated Co2 laser, it does not make sense to do and it may risk scarring and tightening of the bands . It will tighten up the skin to some degree - but surgery sounds like the better option in this case . goo Luck!
