What if you decided to explant? Will your breasts sag?
Briefly, everyone is different. Critical factors would involve the laxity of your skin, the degree to which you were augmented (I would expect a patient with 800 cc implants to sag considerably more than one with 275 cc implants), your age, the length of time that the implants have been in place, or weight gain/loss, etc. If your breasts sag after explantation, a breast lift can certainly be performed.
Can a breast explantation surgery be safely performed while pregnant? I have subglandular saline. I've heard its an easy procedure, and can even be done under "twilight" anesthesia.
A pregnant woman should not undergo any non-essential surgery, particularly involving sedation. I will not perform any surgery on a patient in the first trimester involving epinephrine without written consent from the obstetrician. There is no acute medical indication to perform a cosmetic procedure during a pregnancy and no reason to expose you and your unborn child to an potential complications.
I am 20 years old and in July of 2010, so a year ago, I had breast augmentation. I was at around a 32 B before the surgery and I had 450cc saline implants put in on top of my muscle. I have had many doubts about them since and I am now considering getting them removed with no aditional lift after. I am curious to know what type of results I will get or if there is anything I can do to optimize my results.
450cc implants over your muscle have likely caused some stretch to your skin. Although it's hard to advise you without photos, I would expect you to need some sort of lift after removing these implants. There are some things your surgeon can do at the time the implants are removed to improve results in many cases. If you are expecting to remove the implants and have a similar appearance to your point just before your original surgery then I think this is unlikely. Good Luck! Scott Newman, MD FACS
