I've had Restylane and Artefill under the eyes. Restylane over a period of years; Artefill the 1st time two months ago after skin test w/ no reaction whatsoever. Within last couple of weeks I've had swelling under the eyes, which I can't connect to anything topical/ ingested. Medical history includes ideopathic hives several times, one anaphylactic reaction to sulfa/ sulphates, and other less pronounced reactions to sulfa/sulphates, asthma. Possibly Artefill related? I'm taking Benadryl.
Artefill under the eye is not FDA approved and is an off-label use of the product. You can have allergies to the Artefill even if you were tested. Swelling under the eyes often results, which is true with any filler. But, you can be allergic to the collagen under the eyes from the Artefill, even if you’ve been tested.
I had dermalive placed in my nasolabial folds 10 years ago. Now they have formed large granulomas in my nasolabial folds. i would like to have them removed. Is there high risk with this procedure. It's creating facial distortion.
Facial granulomas can be removed after artecoll, but they’re difficult to remove, which is why we generally don’t recommend these permanent fillers.
I had acne scars and they raised them with the Artefill. They said to come back in 30 days to get more. It took 3 weeks to get the results. My scars looked filled in almost all the way and then it all disappeared. Very frustrating. Thank You for your time.
Artefill is permanent. However, it also has some collagen. As the collagen gets absorbed, your body forms its own collagen. This process can cause the result to change slightly. It is also possible that you were undertreated with ArteFill. But, the product itself will not go away. It’s basically a type of plastic. Seek out another physician and make sure they have a lot of experience with ArteFill.
