I Had Closed Rhinoplasty 6 Months Ago- Unhappy With Results. What Can I Expect From Final Result? (photo)

I had closed rhinoplasty 6 months ago to remove a dorsal hump (see photo) by rasping top and sides. I'm very unhappy with the results so far as my dorsal hump is still showing. What kind of changes should I still expect? Am I stuck with this hump or will it absorb? Also does the area above the tip still look swollen? I would appreciate any advice, as I'm very depressed about my surgery results. My surgeons knows my concerns but he's just protecting his work. I'd like another opinion please.

A: Unhappy with rhinoplasty result 6 months after surgery

At 6 months, your results from a closed rhinoplasty are pretty stable.  Based on your photos,  revision certainly seems necessary to improve the result and address your concerns.

In a secondary case I would do it in an open fashion with a general take down of the dorsum, particularly to deal with the step off at the proximal third of the dorsum.  The tip needs to be elevated slightly to improve the angel between your lip and columella and also you need a better transition to the tip to remove the poly-beak appearance.

This could be done at any time and should result in significant improvement. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

Could a Rhinoplasty Reduce the Width of my Nose?

My nose seems too wide for my face. There is also a lack of definition at the bottom of my nose where it seems to round off. I have slightly apparent bone on the bridge of my nose coming down the left side. This is not really an issue as from the side there are no bumps. I want to be realistic about a potential rhinoplasty so I know what exactly to look for when I start researching surgeons. Thanks! (Red splotch is a broken blood vessel, a whole other issue)

A: RHINOPLASTY

Thanks for the photos.  Overall you have nice features to your nose.  Some fine tuning can be performed to improve the the tip appearance.  I would schedule an appointment with a surgeon that offers computer imaging.  This will help you decide whether you feel the surgery would be beneficial enough.

Closed Rhinoplasty to Remove Hump Possible?

Hello, I am looking into having rhino done. My main concern is having the hump removed. I don't want to change too much. The hump is what bothers me the most. What would you recommend would be the best thing to do to it and do you think it's very possible to have a closed rhino in my case?

A: CLOSED RHINOPLASTY

You should be able to achieve an excellent result with a closed Rhinoplasty.  You will also need to break the nose after reducing the hump otherwise your nose will appear too wide and flat.  Find an experienced Rhinoplasty surgeon.  The results will be dramatic!!  Good luck,
