How Soon It is Safe to Become Pregnant or Trying to Get Pregnant After Having Restylane/perlane Done?

I have 1.0 cc syringe of perlane for non-surgical nose job last week. We also plan to try to get pregnant again. I am not pregnant right now. But how long should I wait to be on the safe side? I had Juvederm ultra plus done on me about 10 months ago for the same purpose and it lasted around 6-9 months. I'm not sure if perlane would have the same longevity. Please advise. Thank you very much

A: You can get pregnant 5 minutes after having Restylane® or Juvéderm!

You can get pregnant 5 minutes after having Restylane® or Juvéderm®!

There is no reason to think that treatment with either product would affect a pregnancy, so it you happen to be pregnant when you are treated with Restylane® or Juvéderm®, don't worry about it a bit.

Same thing goes for BOTOX® -- I have patients who come in for their BOTOX® [for example, to control hyperhidrosis or headaches] a month BEFORE their baby is due, because they know that after the baby arrives they will be very busy.

Lump in Upper Lip 2 Years Post Restylane, Is This Permanent?

It's been over 2 years and I still have a lump from an upper lip injection of restylane. The doctor went too shallow as it appeared right away...what should I do? Will this disolve with more time?

A: If it is Restylane®, hyaluronidase will dissolve it

There are many things that can cause lumps in the lips.

If it is Restylane®, hyaluronidase will dissolve it.

You should be assessed by a physician who is familiar with fillers, and who has hyaluronidase in their office. [Having hyaluronidase in-office ready for use is a pretty reliable sign that you are dealing with a well informed, careful, experienced filler physician.]

Are Their Doctors Who Specialize In Removing Restylane?

Is there a doctor who specializes in using hyaluronidase and possible excision to remove problem Restylane? I have Restylane that has seemingly migrated to the lower face and has not dissolved in over a year. (Two areas have lasted four years.) The substance has formed many balls (one the size of a man’s thumb) and “worms,” and is also disfiguring as the lower face swells, possibly because of the hydrophilic qualities. My doctor has tried Vitrase without success. I will travel to other states.

A: Dr. Tim Flynn in Cary NC could help you

Dr. Tim Flynn at the Cary Skin Clinic in Cary NC could help you.

Dr. Flynn is a leading authority on the use of fillers and the management of complications resulting from fillers. He is also an outstanding dermatologist, and can very likely determine what kind of problem you have, whether it is related to the Restylane® or is unrelated.
