Is Breast Augmentation & Liposuction at Same Time Safe?

I am a healthy 30 year old with no significant medical history. I am hoping to have a Breast Augmentation (with 375cc Silicone implants) and liposuction of the hips, inner & outer thighs, & knees (about 5 Liters worth). Is it safe to do it all in one procedure or is it better to split it up? My PS said it would be done under general and we could do it all at once, which is my hope. Also, what type of recovery should I expect. I have a 3 year old & 6 year old at home. Thanks for your help!

A: COMBINED SURGERIES

It is common to perform body contouring procedures with Breast Augmentation.  I think it would be safe to combine the two surgeries.  You will need some assistance for the first two to three days with your little ones.

Liposuction Vs. Tummy Tuck - What's the Difference?

I've had 3 kids and definitely need some help in my stomach area, but I'm not sure if I would need liposuction, a tummy tuck, or both to get the pre-baby look I want.

A: Liposuction vs tummy tuck after 3 pregnancies

Although liposuction and tummy tucks can both be used to deal with changes following pregnancy, the implications and potential results are dramatically different.

Liposuction is ideal for contouring purposes and I almost universally combine this with my abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) procedures.

In general, it is unlikely after three pregnancies to have an abdominal wall similar to your pre-pregnancy state.  There may be excess skin, stretch marks and almost always some degree of separation of the rectus muscle.  Liposuction alone will not address this at all.

The key components of the abdominoplasty are removal of the excess skin, tightening of the muscles and re-contouring the abdominal tissues.  In cases such as yours, liposuction is very helpful in removing unwanted fatty tissue from the hips and contouring the waist line.

That said, proper consultation is imperative to determining which procedure is right for you to achieve your desired results.

Which Compression Garment is Best for Lipo on Ankles?

I am having laser lipo on my inner/outer thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. The garment that my P.S. is planning on using stops 3/4 down the calves. He plans on using ace bandages for compression from the calves to the ankles. I am concerned about the lack of true compression for the ankles. Is there a better compression garment that will compress all of these areas?

A: GARMENTS

For the type of liposuction you describe, I normally recommend compression stockings,  The 2 companies I use are Jobst or Sigvaris but I am sure there are others.  Make sure the stockings extend above the area of treatment.  In your case thigh high stockings would be advisable.
