Why Are Restylane Injections (Undereye Hollows) So Expensive?

It's usually recommended that 2 syringes are used per eye; $1000 per syringe. Why is restylane so expensive? Is appears cheaper and more convienent to get an under eye implant atleast the results will be permanent where as with restylane you'll have to come back approximately every 6 months to 1 year for injections. Someone please help, I need undereye hollows filled but I can't afford $3000-4000 for restylane injections.

A: Restylane prices

Fees vary.  My fee is lower and I think that you might want to comparison shop to verify that other skilled injectors in your area are in the same price range.  All of the cosmoceuticals and injectibles cost plenty for the doctor to purchase from the manufacturer and, actually, the supplement for his time and expertise isn't terribly high.  I personally find the notion of 4 syringes in a single sitting for the lower eyelids to be high.  You haven't posted a photograph but generally I use 1-2 syringes for this area, so this is another issue that you should resolve by additional consultations.

Can the Doctor Test Us Beforehand to Make Sure We Are Not Allergic to Restylane?

If I decide to get this done can they maybe inject a little spot on my hand or somewhere before just to make sure I'm not allergic or going to have a reaction. I would hate for them to inject the lines around my lips then i have an allergic reaction exspecially somewhere noticable. Thank you for your time.

A: Is Allergy Testing Necessary with Restylane

Because the risk of allergic reaction to Restylane is so low routine pretreatment testing is not required nor recommended by the FDA or the company.  As the othe panel members have indicated if desired a small amount of Restylane could be injected as a test but this is definitely not routine practice.

A: Restylane allergy The odds of a Restylane allergy are so low that there is no pre-treatment testing. However, if you have severe concerns in this regard, you could opt for the smallest possible syringe and use only a portion of it in an initial treatment, returning to complete the treatment once you are convinced that you aren't allergic to the filler.
