I Have a Fractured Nose & Damaged Septum, Dr. Says Only Septum Should Be Corrected, Is this Right?
I asked a question few wks ago about being pregnant & maybe having a fractured nose. Went to an ENT & my nose is fractured & my septum has scar tissue that's already curving. I can't get it fixed til the baby's born, but the Dr doesn't think I should worry about fixing the fracture, she just wants to fix my septum. I want both fixed, bc I have a small dent in my upper left side of my nose. What would I need done in order to fix both problems?
A: A Fractured Nose and Septum Can Be Fixed At The Same TimeA fractured nose and septum can be fixed at the same time. Performing a septoplasty and rhinoplasty at the same time is done frequently, and I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon. It can be difficult to get insurance to cover a rhinoplasty done for reconstructive purposes--good luck.

How Long Will It Take for Neck Lift Incisions to Feel Less Lumpy?
Does everyone get lumps on a neck lift incision? How common is it?
A: Six Months to Achieve Improvement in Scars after Neck LiftIt is common to have some minor lumpiness or small folds in the skin at the incisions behind the ear. This small amount of pleating associated with neck lift should resolve on its own. The scar should improve significantly over the first six months, and improve modestly over the next six months.
If you have a large lump you may have a suture granuloma or a hypertrophic scar--your surgeon will be able to treat these issues.

Is Fat Grafting The Right Choice For My Breast Reconstruction?
On Sept 28 2011 I had a DIEP Flap procedure performed. I had a bi-lateral Mastectomy due to breast cancer. Underwent Chemo and Radiation. After the DIEP Flap procedure my Dr told me that I needed two sessions of fat grafting. I have read that your body can reabsorb the fat. I am on the thin side to begin with and dont have alot of fat to work with so am wondering if fat grafting does not work if a implant can be put in? My right breast has a hard lump I was told its fat necrosis and will go away
A: Fat Grafting Can Improve Shape and SizeFat grafting can improve shape, contour irregularities and fullness of the breast after reconstruction. Unfortunately not all of the grafted fat will survive and some will reabsorb. Even with overcorrection it is common to have to repeat fat grafting. It sounds as if your doctor has offered a very reasonable plan, and I would not rush to have an implant placed.
