I just saw a doctor who said I have "Adipose tissue deposits" on my forehead. These raised fatty deposits are really depressing me and I want them removed. Please give me any type of advice you might have for adipose tissue deposits and how to remove them. I just want a smooth forehead. Can liposuction be used. thanks!!
Forehead lipomas are soft bulges that grow very slowly. I reviewed your photo, and I cannot tell if this is your condition without examining you. When I suspect a forehead lipoma, I will typically order a non-contrast head-CT-scan to confirm the diagnosis, and to check the depth of the lesion.
In my experience, forehead lipomas have been deep to the periosteum (lining of the forehead bone). So surgery may involve going through skin, then fat, then muscle, and then through periosteum to reach the lipoma and dissect it free.
Horizontal forehead incisions have healed favorably, though yours may be larger than most. Care must be taken not to injure the frontal branch of the facial nerve, as that could lead to forehead paralysis. In that regard, you should a consult a reputable facial plastic surgeon familliar with forehead anatomy before proceeding. I have no personal experience with liposuction for this condition.
I hope this is helpful for you.
Is there a visible scar? I also wonder how soon the scar can successfully be covered with makeup after the procedure?
The majority of neck liposuction cases require a single, small incision on the bottom of your chin. Occasionally I will use additional incisions behind your ear lobe if you have excessive neck fat that would benefit from several approaches. These incisions require a single stitch, and heal inconspicuously. I hope this is helpful for you.
I think I have fat deposits on my forehead. pictures included. Hi, I am 23yrs old. female. 5'5 130lbs. Over the last few years I have noticed puffy areas on my forehead. There are two areas over my eyebrows that look to be puffy, swollen. The areas are not sensitive to touch. The areas do seem to be more pronounced outside, possibly due to the lighting. Have not been to the doctors for this issue because I believe it is a cosmetic issue. Can a plastic surgeon 'lipo' my forehead for a flatter appearance. will a ct scan be needed before doing so? thank you!
Unfortunately, I am not able to see your concerns on the photo you included.
Forehead lipomas are fairly common, but I have not seen one in someone under 45 years old. When I see a soft, round bulge on the forehead, I will typically get a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis (fat is recognizable on CT), and to check the depth of the lesion. In my experience, forehead lipomas tend to be "subperiosteal" or deep to the lining over your forehead bone. The horizontal forehead scar heals quite well. I do not have any experience with liposuction of a forehead lipoma. Care must be taken not to injure the frontal branch of the facial nerve, so please consult a board-certified facial plastic surgeon for further evaluation and management.
I hope this is helpful for you.
