Is It Possible to Remove Old Tattoo so That I Can Replace with New Tatto in Same Location?

I want to laser off my tattooed half sleeve because I'm not satisfied with the work ... but I want to get a whole new sleeve on top of the same area where I want the old tattoos removed ... is this possible ? Or is it dangerous and bad for the skin ?

A: Getting another tattoo over one that has been removed with laser...

Many patients get a tattoo and then are not happy with the results and seek removal.  Laser works great in the removal of these tattoos.  You will undergo a laser treatment appoximately every 4-6 weeks for about 6 sessions.  How quickly it is removed can depend on the ink coloring; black being the easiest where as green being a little more difficult and possibly requiring more sessions.   When complete you should be left with close to the same skin you had prior to the tattoo.  You may then get another tattoo over that area.  Even if the tattoo is not completely removed, you can put a new tattoo over the old one.  It is not dangerous nor will it harm the integrity of your skin.  I would contact a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.

Would Laser Removal Treatments Completely Remove my Full Back Peice Tattoo?

I am beginning to really hate my tattoo and desperately want to remove it. It bothers me everyday and I can't live with it any more. Originally I had some flowers on my back which was not professional so I had it covered, which ended up becoming a tattoo on my entire back. I want my body back to the way it was when I came into this world, can laser treatments completely remove my tattoo?

A: Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments...

Laser Tattoo Removal is an excellent procedure for removing tattoos.  Having a tattoo removed is a long process.  Treatments need to be spread out, usually 4 weeks apart, to give your skin time to heal between treatments.  After the sessions, your back may have most if not all the ink removed; however, there is no guarantee.  Usually the skin is smooth, but occasionally you can have some mild discoloration or roughness of the area.  Considering the size and color of your tattoo, you will probably require about 5-10 sessions.  Be sure to discuss your questions with a laser specialist who performs this procedure regularly.

How Long Does It Take to Remove a Tattoo?

i want to get a 6 x 6 inch tattoo removed, and was wondering how long itwou;d take to get it removed? also, how often are the removal treatments?

A: How long does it take for a tattoo to disappear using a laser...

Having a tattoo removed using a laser, will usually generate very nice results in time.  Typically, most tattoos will disappear or come close to disappearing after approximately 6 treatments.  Between each treatment you will have to wait about 4 weeks for the skin to heal.  The colors in the tattoo can also determine how many sessions you may need.  Green and yellow pigments tend to take more treatments for the color to go away.  I would contact your plastic surgeon to see how many treatments he thinks would be needed for it to be removed.
