I was in shock, fear and desperate until I found Dr. Jacobs and his team. I left his office with a smile on my face and ready to plan for surgery. I wish everyone facing breast surgery could have him and his team by their side. Dr. Jacobs explains every procedure clearly and he is precise and perfect. On 11/19/2013 I had bilateral mastectomies with DIEP Flap Reconstruction and Lymph... more
When I found out in 5/2013 that I was positive for both the BRC-1 and BRC-2 mutation I had to make an agonizing decision to have a prophylactic mastectomy as this mutation puts me at a very high risk for breast cancer. My research brought me to Dr. Salzberg as "THE MAN" to go to for a one step, direct to implant reconstruction using alloderm. Everything I read sang the praises of not only an... more
I was previously a patient of Dr. Salzberg when I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer. I went into surgery absolutely calm knowing that I was in the best hands possible. I had a double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with follow up nipple reconstruction on one side. I am happy to say I am healthy today, but also have beautiful breasts ! I trust Dr. Salzberg... more

I was told that I was high risk for returning breast cancer in the future and that this would... more

I chose to have a bilateral mastectomy. My diagnosis was ductal carcinoma insitu stage 0.My reason for the surgery was for peace of mind. The other alternative would have been a lumpectomy followed by 7 weeks of radiation. That was not for me.I am very pleased with the outcome. My last surgery was just three days ago for my permanent implants. Beforehand if I knew the end result would be this... more
I was in dispair after hearing the news of a second cancerous mass to my right breast. In 1994 I had a Lumpectomy. I was now going to have that breast removed. The surgeon suggested I look into reconstruction. At age 63, I thought, why? I reluctantly saw Dr. Adam Hamawy. When he walked into the room; I somehow knew I would be in good hands. After he informed me that the reconstruction can be... more
I did not consider any cons at the time. All I knew was: I may die from cancer soon, and if I'll survive, I wanted to look "normal" after bilateral mastectomy. I was not told about life of the implants, about MRIs to check them, etc. I am 60 years old. I have saline implants for 17 years after bilateral mastectomy. They look and feel OK. Should I do anything to make sure they... more
