Is 40 too young for a facelift? What treatment would be less radical, yet still effective for fleshy jowls?
It is difficult to answer this question without a complete examination. Age does not contribute to this issue. The degree of laxity and sagging are the issues. All surgery start with an incision. I always try to perform a short scar surgical procedure with either just an incision in front of the ear or with a short incision behind the ear.
Should prescribed pain meds be able to numb the pain? If they do not, is something else wrong?
Pain is usually not that common after a facelift. Tightness, numbness, ear pain are common. Pain on one side only one needs to be evaluated for any post operative complications. Oral pain medications commonly are more than appropriate for control of pain. We must alway remember that each patient has a different level of pain threshold.
In my 5th day of upper eye bleph; my eye creases are crooked and not even; a piece of skin is clearly not straight.I have rroad track like scars from stitches & and blishtering on each eye crease. One eye is still black & blue. I also had chin smart lipo at same time & neck hurts so much, I can't move it. No improvement in 5 days.It is purple & red & has hard ridges in it. I am so depressed; I looked better before. Will this all go away? My doc says don't think about it. I am so sad.
I am sorry that you are upset after your cosmetic facial surgery. It is hard not to think about it after you made this investment of time, emotions , and finances. First: you need to make sure that there is no evidence of infection in your neck region. I am sure that your surgeon has already done this. Your eyelid incisions will constantly change over the next several weeks. After complete healing has occurred (3-months) small revisions in the eyelid scars are common and I usually do this in my office under local anesthesia. I would try to keep an open communication with your surgeons staff to confirm that you are healing as expected. If you are still not satisfied you made need to seek the advice of another surgeon in your region.
