How Do I Find an Experienced Doctor for Restylane for my Sunken Eyes?

I want the best results for underneath my deep set eyes, as I know this is a delicate area and the feedback keeps saying to find a doctor with experience. What questions do I ask when I'm interviewing doctors?

A: Restylane

I would recommend speaking with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs both blepharoplasty and injects fillers in this area. If they have experience with both procedures they can advise you as to the best course of treament. Some who only has one hamer will do the same thing all of the time. You should look for someone who can utulize all of the available surgical techniques and fillers.

How Often Will I Need to Have Restylane Procedures Done to Keep Up my New Look?

How often is Restylane needed for very dark circles the eyes that extended all the way to the cheek bones?

A: How Long Will Restylane Last Under Your Eyes

Restylane a filler within the class of hyaluronic acid fillers.  Restylane's longevity is variable, but you can expect it to last from 6-12 months under your eyes.  Juvederm is also a hyaluronic acid filler, and I find that it lasts longer than Restylane and works better around the eye area.  As a treatment for the very dark circles under your eyes, any filler may be disappointing for you.  The fillers work very well in that area along what is called the "tear trough", which is a hollow area that is formed along the rim of the eye socket.  To the extent that the dark areas are caused by shadowing from the tear trough, the filler will help somewhat.  However, these dark areas are generally caused by discolorations in the skin, which will not be helped by filler.  You should be evaluated by a board-certiied plasic surgeon to see what would work best for you.

How Much Restylane is Too Much?

I had to purchase two full syringes of Restylane for my tear troughs, from underneath my eyes to the mid sections of my cheeks. The grooves were pretty bad (the left side was worse). They look better, but I feel like I need more! I also have puffiness above my cheekbones. I don't know if it's just more visible now or if the fillers actually moved into that area to cause more puffiness. How much filler is too much? Where did it all go?! What are my options?

A: Restylene for Tear Troughs There is no one right amount to put in this or any area. It obviously depends on the severity Of your condition prior to treatment. In general , if only treating the tear troughs I don't generally use more than one syringe at a time. I find I get better results usually if after using the one syringe , I touch up at a future date. You need to wait For several weeks after your injection before we can make an assessment if you 'need' more filler. you will then have a discussion with your doctor , who can guide you in this process.
