How Soon After Facelift or Mini Facelift is It Safe to Have an IPL Photofacial for Rosacea? Thanks!

I had a "mini" facelift a little over two months ago and am wondering if it is safe to now have an IPL Photofacial or a chemical peel.

A: laser after facelift should be no problem at all. as you have already heard we will routinely laser or deep peels at the same time as the lift.

2 Ipls Have Had No Effect on Lentigos at Derm Office. One of the Other Doctors Has Suggested Yag.what Do You Think?

I am now 5 weeks after ipl treatment on hands arms and face to try and fade or erase lentigos as diagnosed by derm. I am skin type II, and i see no change in my spots. Doctor used Lynton ipl and another doc says he will try yag. I would be grateful for your comments thanks Ally

A: NdYag and Ruby laser treat Lentigines While we have several IPL's in our offices our Dermatologic and laser surgeons prefer the NDYAG (found in our West Islip office) or the Ruby laser to treat these benign non dangerous lesions. When utilizing the IPL it requires more visits and may be more likely to have an adverse side effect . Usually with the lasers only one or two treatments are required to remove the lentigo.

Pain and Cost - Should I Continue Being Treated by IPL?

I have Skin Type IV and been treated by IPL hair reduction in 4 sessions, with 4,6 and 8 weeks intervals(the whole body).Based on the blood tests and sonography I have done,I dont have hormonal problem or ovarian cyst.Considering suffering great pain during the sessions and the money I spend, after 4 sessions the result is like 15% hair reduction and somehow the growing hairs are finer. As the results are not what I expected, should I continue my treating or change the laser type?

A: ipl hair reduction

An IPL in skin type IV can work but to avoid hypo or Hyperpigmentation it has to be done carefully with less energy which means you need more treatments.  You may want to try a physician who has a Yag 1064 because the risks of pigmentation are less and you may need less treatments.  Some individuals no matter what skin type do not respond as well and need more treatments.  It sounds like it is working but not as fast as you want, you should discuss this with you doctor.

Sincerely,

Dr Gartner
