Can I Do Fraxel Laser Resurfacing? I Have a Tendency for Keloids.

I have acne scars on my face and would like to get rid of them. I have a keloid on my chest though. So I was wondering whether or not I am a candidate for fraxel. ThankYou

A: Fraxel laser can be used in people with Keloids The Fraxel Restore 1550 laser can probably be used in patients with keloids. However, the dermatologist must be very careful using lighter settings and performing a test site in the area. It would also depend on the history of your formation of the keloid. Other precautions can be taken including pretreating the area with various creams and intralesional triamcinolone acetone to calm down the keloid. The Fraxel is an excellent choice for treatment of your acne scars. Fractionated Co2 - like the Pixel is a more aggressive treatment with faster and usually better results but with more downtime. It would probably be too risky given your history of keloids- although I have used it carefully in this exact situation.the smooth beam laser is also helpful for acne scars without any downtime. Good luck.!

Can Hair Transplants Look Natural? What Areas Can Be Used as Donor Hair?

Fine Hairs are needed at the sides of my forehead to make it appear that my forehead is less wide than it actually is. I prefer not to use the back of my scalp as the donor site. Are there any other candidates for this? Like maybe leg hair or even armpit hair?

A: Hair transplant can be Natural I agree with you that having hairs implanted on the side of your scalp should make your forehead seem less wide. However , as to where to get the grafts from, that can only be done in a consultation. My associate, Dr Pistone is a world renowned hair transplant surgeon whose work creates a natural hairline- not like the 'old doll transplants'. You can see the pictures on The attached link under hair transplants . We have 8 offices in the area so we can tell you in person the best donor areas. The areas you mentioned- leg and armpit - do not have the same texture and do not provide for appropriate hair density. The consultation is free for viewers of real self . Good luck !

The Nurse Said Dont Get the Bandage Wet After Sclerotherapy, Why is That?

i did vericose vein sclerotherapy and the new told me not to get the bandage wet why is that?

A: Don't get bandages wet It's best for you to call the office who performed the procedure on you. Patients should never be embarrassed to ask questions. There are many reasons why your doctor may want you to not get the bandages wet. Wet bandages do not compress well. The wetness may irritate the skin . Wetness may make it hard to remove a bandage. It could also cause adhesive to fall off. The list goes on . Good luck.
