I noticed that some Drs on Realself have recommended facelift cuts as a last resort to remove less than desirable results from fat transfer. As most Q&As refer to microliposuction/steroid therapies, it would be interesting to hear more about this "extreme" method of removal, and its benefits/limitations. In what kinds of situations would this method be employed? Thank you!
If fat grafting is done conservatively and in the proper dept, the results are good. When there is excess fat graft, one has to wonder. Did that fat grow excessively or was too much grafted there. If fat needs to be removed it could be done through a face lift incision. The alternate procedure is to do additional fat grafting or fillers for the deficit areas. a face lift itself can improve the irregularities.
I had lower eyes done 2 1/2 years ago for slight baggy eyes. Dr. took fat under eyes and put above cheeks (not necessary, in my opinion). 2 weeks ago I gently massaged hard feeling areas on upper cheeks and outer eyes, because of tension. Area hurt the next day, like muscle tension letting go, and tension feeling was gone. Since then, I noticed I now have bags back and wrinkles on outer eyes I never had before? Is it possible I broke up the fat and ruined my lift?
I am 3 months post fat graft removal by excision. However, I now have some hard lump in the area where fat used to be. Should I get steroid or 5-FU on this lump to help the remaining protrusion? Does anybody know a doctor in LA who specializes in this?
I am not sure what the reason was for removing the fat graft. Were there any lumps? Or was there a bulge due to excess fat? If there was already a hard lump you might have had some fat necrosis. If there was excess fat then removing it could potentially cause scarring in the area presenting itself as hard lumps.
In any case, it is important to allow the time for the remodeling to happen. Intralegional steroid injections could be helpful in speeding the process, but it has to be done judiciously and in low doses to prevent tissue atrophy. You should discuss these options with you doctor, but don't forget it is extremely important to wait six months to a year before any other intervention.
