What Helps a Tummy Tuck Scar Result- Stitches on the Outer Layer or Glue?

I am going to have a tummy tuck and I know their will be a scar I was just wondering...as far as the best results when it comes to the outcome of your scar which is better for the outer layer of skin stitches or glue?

A: Stitches vs Glue

I do not know of any data that demonstrates dissovable stitches vs glue being better.  We do know that a no tension closure and no outside stitches will aide in the healing of the tummy tuck scar.

Will a TT with Muscle Repair Help Strengthen Stomach Muscles After C Section?

I have had two C-sections and since my second c-section I have had great difficulty building the strength back up in my abs. I have a large separation down the middle of my stomach and excess skin. I am a very active person and I am very frustrated that I cannot strengthen my core. I am considering a tummy tuck to correct the stomach muscles. Will this make a difference in me being able to strengthen my stomach msucles?

A: Muscle Repair with Tummy Tuck

With excess skin and a diastasis rectus (the separation in yoru muscles down the middle) you sound like an excellent candidate for abdominoplasty.  Yes, not only will the abdominoplasty improve your apearance, but by placing the muscles back where they should be, it will strengthen your core.  Good Luck.

Looking into Getting the Full Abdominoplasty but Worried About Belly Button. What Can I Expect? (photo)

Thank you all for your quick responses on my last question. I know that I need to get the surgery now, the only thing I am wondering is about the belly button scar and shape. My mom recently had her tummy tuck done about 8 months ago but her belly button hole looks SO small and is such a tiny circle, it doesnt look real. Is this normal? because I have seen it often and if I am going to go to the lengths of this surgery, I want to make sure I can have a tummy I can show off again. Advice?

A: Belly Button Scar

You are a great candidate for a full tummy tuck.  The concern about the belly button outcome is understandable because this cannot be hidden in a bikini.  They are so many different techniques surgeons use to create certian size and shapes for the belly button.  Discuss what you like and what you do not like with your surgeon.  Also discuss and early post-operative protocol to minimaize the scarring.  Good luck, I am sure you will look great.
