I bought a tca peel on line and did a patch test on my leg. It did not frost after a couple of coats. I washed it off and nothing happened to my skin. I want to try it on my face but I'm wondering if 12% tca peels frost on your face? How do you know when you have applied enough solution?
A 12% TCA peel does very little that is beneficial to the surface of the skin. A frost
will occur with a much stronger concentration, usually at least 35%. Furthermore,
I am not a fan of TCA peels.
If one desires an aggressive approach for significant actinic damage to the skin or wrinkles, I recommend either a phenol type peel or laser resurfacing. In my opinion, the best superficial skin resurfacing is with the use of unbuffered low pH glycolic acid. We perform glycolic peels with 50% unesterified glycolic acid and we recommend home maintenance with the application of an appropriate 10% glycolic acid preparation.
I have been having TCA 20% peels done so far i have had two and have had minor improvements. I was told that a combination peel would give better results. My surgeon recommended a TCA 20% with a Jessner peel to yield better results. I just want a second opinion to be sure.
A 20% TCA peelis a very minimal peel for facial skin improvement. I prefer 50% Glycolic acid peels with 10% glycolic home maintenance. Nevertheless, if you would like to stay with 20% TCA peels, adding Jessners solution would yield better results than the TCA alone.
I recently started to go to the doctors for acne and acne scars she started the TCA treatments and my face has completely cleared up. I would like to continue them, however, I just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Is it safe?
I don't think anybody knows for sure and I am not certain that TCA peels safe to use during pregnancy. I suppose there is a possibility of increased chance of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially with higher concentrations of TCA. I doubt whether TCA applications to the skin would affect your pregnancy or your baby but I just don’t know.
