Hello, I have a small keliod scar on my upper back/shoulder which is raised and red after having a small mole removed. I have read that using Liquid nitrogen can work by freezing it so that it will fall off by itself over time? Can you please help to tell me, if I can use a 'home liquid nitrogen kit?' I have one that was for warts, I was wondering if I can use this on my keloid? and how often shall I use the Liquid nitrogen? Thank you.
The first thing to understand about keloids is they are very difficult to treat. The best treatment for Keloid scarring depends on the location of the keloid. Usually the most effective method of treatment of keloids on the body is steroid injections. The injections are given approximately every six to eight weeks. Sometimes the V-beam laser can improve the scar some as well. When the keloid is on the ear, then surgery is the best option. Surgery for a body keloid will usually result in a bigger keloid. I recommend seeing a plastic surgeon to evaluate you and determine your best course of action.
Hi, I am wondering what I need to do to get rid of old acne scars on my forehead. They are flat and white. I also have some pigmentation. Thanks!
Acne scarring is a very difficult situation to treat. There are many different types of acne scars. Some are deep and they may need to be excised, while some are superficial and may respond to the CO2 or fraxel laser. Fraxel treatment is able to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of skin, using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin's surface to stimulate new collagen growth. With the CO2 laser the damaged skin is replaced with fresh, healthy skin. Unfortunately, flat, white scars are not treated easily. The only possibilities are to excise them or add pigmentation through a tattooing procedure. Consult your plastic surgeon to see what is the best option for your skin.
I would like to get scar subcision done, but was wondering if I can get it about a month after a Restylane injection? Would the filler make subcision less effective? What would happen if I did so?
I know that fillers after subcision is a good idea, but what if it is reversed? I got Restylane injected into my scars a week ago and I want to get subcision done in a month.
Is it possibile to get subcision done after a filler? Or should I wait 6 months or so for the Restylane to subside before I go on with subcision?
The goal is to break up all the scar tissue holding up the skin and pulling it downwards causing depressions. Once that is done by subcision then injecting a filler to smoothen the skin works well.
For acne scarring etc, Sculptra might be a better filler than Restylane.
